Sanam Shetty Instagram – Many parties trying to take credit for this bill but have we women paused to think why the #womenreservationbill is a slap on our faces: * Its a shameful reminder that we continue to be the largest ‘minority’ in India * Female population is almost 49% vs Male population of approx 52% so even if reservation is to be considered should it not be atleast 49%? * Even after centuries of women leaders fighting for our equal rights we are dependent on ‘reservations’ to ensure our presence in parliament and other walks of life * We women should be capable enough to be chosen by merit rather than rely on reservations to hold positions of power * Many voters & elected representatives are still of the mindset that a woman’s primary role is within the family structure and are not reliable enough to make significant decisions without the help of their husbands. So WHEN will we women claim what is rightfully ours to become equals in every way that matters? #equality
