Lost my damn mind last night. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually been starstruck before, but @officiallynnmabry was so kind. I told her how I’ve watched Stop Making Sense ✨hundreds✨ of times, how @kaseyfosteriscool and I studied her and Edna Holt’s moves and quirks and even facial expressions when we would recreate the show years ago on tour. And how we even copycatted the copycat of her moves for @docnowifc. How even though it was in a tribute band, “playing her” really opened the door for me, made me feel I had a place in this type of music. She hugged me and I cried and laughed at the same time like a lunatic. The whole night was surreal. I took a pic with Steve Scales. I shook David’s hand and just kind of numbly thanked him for… music? (He said “oh wow, ha! Sure!”) Jerry very kindly talked with me about the re-mastering, (people, it sounds fucking epic) even though he’s probably sick to death of talking about it. Tina was cool as hell and Chris was cracking jokes about his metronome. Absolutely one of the coolest evenings of my life. Hugest thanks to @scottaukerman and @mradamscott for bringing me along.
