This is from 2016 in chennai. I’d finished my daily morning vocal exercises and something compelled me to start singing these lyrics in this style. In many ways this morning spent solo jamming on this idea was the seed for my approach to writing melodies that shapeshift between different cultural currents.
A lot has evolved, grown since then (i.e hairstyle lol, perspective, etc) but the spirit with which I approach/explore music has remained honest. And the rudraksh and gold chains still hang around my neck.

Every day around 2/3pm, the sun fills the room where my piano’s at. Every day around that time, I find myself drawn to the piano to create and sing kinda aimlessly.
I’m back to practicing without paying attention to the time. It allows for more points of resonance with what feels like the divine. Learning that the truest existence is one where one actively engages with the universe, revelling and participating in the symbiosis of it all.

This was my fav moment from last night’s show. I grew up 30 min away from the Oakland Arena. Driven by there thousands of times, been to hella A’s games at the Coliseum. Last night was special, the energy in that space was magical. Bringing my mom and guru on stage, shining a light on what she’s done for me (what she does for hundreds of students) felt so deeply special. She’s instilled in me such a deep love and fire for music. My family is everything to me. We’ve collectively dreamt up so many dreams together, it’s still just the beginning. I’m grateful in ways I’ll never be able to put into words for the loving, fierce and honest tribe I have by my side and around me.
It almost felt like all of us in the venue last night were gathered in a living room together.
