Whales are a keystone species, and critical to the health of the ocean and the battle against climate change.
But more than that, whales are beautiful.
Fin whales, the second largest animal on the planet, are thoughtful, sentient creatures who communicate though song.
And, as an endangered species, fin whales are protected around the world. But Iceland continues to hunt these magnificent animals.
The Icelandic government made a courageous decision in June to suspend whaling this summer, and we applaud that.
But now Iceland is considering whether to allow whaling to start again in September.
We urge the Icelandic government not to allow the hunting of fin whales.
And your voice matters. Please write to Svandís Svavarsdóttir, the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries who is making the decision, and to Katrín Jakobsdóttir, the Prime Minister of Iceland, and tell them you support their decision to end whaling, and not to allow it to start again in September.

Together we can end whaling for good.
