💔 On September 26, 2023 Stella gave birth to her and Lamar’s pride and joy “Baby LJ”, a healthy, handsome baby boy that she couldn’t wait to take home and spoil. Following LJ’s birth and their return home, Stella began experiencing severe headaches along with high blood pressure.
On October 2,2023 Stella had a seizure and massive stroke at home, and was rushed to the emergency room. She was ultimately diagnosed with Postpartum preeclampsia and placed on life support. She never regained consciousness.
Stella passed away with her husband by her side on October 6, 2023, ten days after delivering her baby.
Stella had a smile that could brighten the sky with an energy like the Sun. Her passing has left a void in the lives of many, and has altered the course of her husband Lamar and baby LJ’s lives forever. Please consider donating to the family’s gofundme to assist the with funeral expenses and LJ’s care.

“They’re taking it hard. They have good days, and they have bad days,” said Patricia Pouncey, Washington’s mother.
The family is still waiting for the autopsy results.
“If she died naturally, I want to know. If one of them doctors did something, I wanna know that too,” Pouncey said. “I’m hurt, I’m confused.

March 1st we return to pay homage to “THE MOTHERS OF GYNECOLOGY” join us! This is a conference you won’t want to miss. For info follow & support @anarchalucybetsey
Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey
were enslaved women from plantations in and around Montgomery, Alabama. With neither consent nor anesthesia, they were experimented on by Dr. J. Marion Sims in the 1840s. After publishing the results of his “success,” Sims moved to New York to seek fame and fortune. Within a decade, he became known as the Father of Gynecology. By contrast, Anarcha, Betsey, and Lucy fell into history. They changed the world, only to be forgotten by it. A 15-foot public monument will honor these women, tell their story, and shine a light on ongoing racial disparities in the healthcare industry today.

Earlier this year, Bobbie For Change announced our partnership with @4kira4moms to establish the Maternal Mortality Response Team, which aims to provide resources, support, and essential items to families who’ve experienced the loss of a mother during childbirth.
Tragically, this program is now supporting 5 families.
Black mothers are still dying of pregnancy-related issues and complications at a rate 4x higher than white women.
So, what are we doing about it? And how can you help? Bobbie For Change has been lobbying to pass The Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act of 2021 (AKA The Momnibus), which is made up of 13 bills that comprehensively address the maternal health crisis in America. The bill is back on the floor for the third time, and it’s time to get this bill passed.
Visit the link in our bio to send a pre-written letter to your rep, and follow @4kira4moms to learn how you can support their mission.
4Kira4Moms is an organization that has been leading the charge and fighting for improved maternal outcomes and policy change throughout the United States since 2018.

“The historical and ongoing work of Black traditional and community-based midwives to help establish equitable systems of care must be recognized and uplifted.” – Kimberly Durdin, Co-founder of @kindredspaceLA
Last month, at our Bobbie for Change event in Los Angeles, Kimberly sat down with @elainewelteroth and @4kira4moms to talk about the history and importance of midwifery as it relates to the Black maternal mortality crisis in the U.S.
In honor of Black History Month, Bobbie for Change is uplifting the work of Kindred Space, the only Black-owned and operated birthing center in Los Angeles founded by @kimberlydurdin and @mama_leggs. Their model of care and the community they have built in Los Angeles has become a beacon for so many.
Please join us in making a donation to Kindred Space LA so that they can continue to provide their incredible resources, including acting as a hub of learning for other birth workers and therapists serving families.

Repeat after us: Mothers and all birthing people deserve the right to have a safe and supportive birthing experience, then live to raise a healthy child.
Pushing for solutions to the Black Maternal Mortality Crisis is one of our initiatives for Bobbie for Change, our social impact arm. Last month, we raised more than $20,000 for @4kira4moms’ Maternal Mortality Response Team, which helps families by providing them with resources and trauma support within 24 hours of the loss of a mother during childbirth. We’re also pushing for legislative change and we need your help to get the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act — AKA The Momnibus — passed at the federal level.
The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income countries, and Black women are FOUR TIMES more likely to die of pregnancy-related issues and complications than white women. We refuse to stay silent on the issues impacting our community of parents, and we hope you’ll join us in advocating for policy change. Here’s what you can do: Write or call your representative with the following message ⬇️
“Dear Representative ______,
Please co-sponsor the Momnibus when it gets reintroduced in Congress this year, and join the Black maternal Health Caucus.
Signed,
______”
