Some more examples from my ceramics table this past weekend at @still_life_studios. The person who purchased the Daredevil Yunomi successfully caught it and the Cosmic Vase (roll two d10 for price) went for $27.

A pretty good bowl from the last kiln. The angles and cuts (especially an undercut on the foot) makes this particularly satisfying to hold in one hand.

You often hear about forms that ceramicists have made “thousands of times,” refining the shape over many iterations. As I’m just a beginner I thought I had no such forms, but I realized that there IS something I have made probably thousands of times – little chopsticks holders folded from the paper chopsticks often come in. This is a shape I’ve been making for years, so I tried my hand at creating a mold out of plaster to cast it in porcelain. Next iteration I think I will leave unglazed, as the plaster captures a subtle paper texture present in the origami versions.

We (@dawnofjayne) are playing at Hotel Cafe 10pm on Oct 15, which is a dream venue for guitarists, so come support my fingers and listen to some MUSIC BABYYY!
I have been generating ceramic forms with AI and then reverse engineering their construction with throwing and handbuilding techniques. Here is the first – a riff on moon jars. The last pic is the AI generated image. #dallemini #aiart #ceramics #pottery

Another AI form with “mid century modern aesthetics,” flowers arranged by @littletokyoflorist I wanted to do a prototype of this one first to figure out the technique (If I were to repeat this I think it should be taller/thinner) – I cut out a vinyl in the curved shape and stick it on the bone dry piece and then used a technique called “water etching” which is basically rubbing down the piece with a wet sponge to wear away all the bits not protected by the vinyl sticker, which allows for a raised section. I tried another one with a crawl glaze to more closely match the prompt, so to speak, and it didn’t turn out well. I think I have to do flowers with any vase form. Otherwise it’s incomplete.

More ceramic objects built from AI generated forms. “Two ceramic vases intersecting each other” produced two interesting complimentary forms.

Two yunomi, thrown off the hump, recycled clay body. The left one (MD Shino) is surprisingly metallic, while the right breaks in cool ways.
Need the flowers. Arrangement by @littletokyoflorist
