Donation Link : https://rb.gy/sqxdm . . All our favorite horror films, stories, books, graphic novels, podcasts, and more began with putting pen to paper. George was not only a visionary filmmaker but also a prolific and talented writer. His contributions to the world of horror extended beyond the camera, as he crafted compelling narratives that explored societal issues through the lens of the undead. His works often delved into themes of societal collapse, human nature under duress, and the consequences of unchecked scientific experimentation, leaving a lasting imprint on both the horror genre and the broader world of storytelling. George’s legacy as a writer continues to inspire and terrify audiences, ensuring his place as a true literary luminary in the realm of horror. The GARF honors his legacy by supporting the next generation of horror writers through our 2023-2024 initiatives, including the “The Dead” podcast with Bloody Disgusting, Screams in a Box, Outpost 5, and our upcoming project in development, a virtual “summer camp” for aspiring horror writers. We will be a sponsor for the Horror Writers Association, and The GARF will be the marquis presenter for the Final Frame program at the Bram Stoker Convention of Horror Writers #georgeromero #foundation
Today @johncarpenterofficial shares a second look at his forthcoming collection, ‘Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988)’, set for release on October 6th via @sacredbones ‘Anthology II’ continues the celebration of his compositional genius via an excellently sequenced collection of some of his most iconic pieces of music from his extensive filmography, all newly recorded with his musical collaborators @daniel_davies and @ludrium Cody Carpenter. Following the previously shared album opener “Chariots of Pumpkins” from Halloween III, today he offers up the newly re-worked version of ‘69th St. Bridge’ from Escape From New York – a dynamic track that encapsulates the futuristic and gritty nature of the film and the intensity and urgency of the protagonist’s mission via the use of throbbing bass lines, driving rhythms, and electronic textures. Carpenter comments: “This piece played during a chase across an imaginary bridge. Isaac Hayes was going after Kurt Russell, and I wanted to create music that fit the feel of the scene. [At the time of recording Anthology II] I wanted to include more music from Escape From New York, and after re-listening to the soundtrack, this piece stood out to me as one that I wanted to try recreating and modernizing. It was fun recreating the various synth parts note by note, a very different process than how I originally recorded the piece back in the 80s.” The track comes with a visualiser by Adam Fuchs @lilfuchs and Chris Bilheimer which you can now watch at the link in bio!

Out Today! Renowned composer and filmmaker @johncarpenterofficial and his musical foils @ludrium Cody Carpenter and @daniel_davies have just released Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988), a newly recorded and perfectly sequenced collection of some of the most iconic themes from Carpenter’s extensive filmography, via @sacredbones The collection deploys an expert curation of career highlights, including selections from Escape From New York, Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, Assault on Precinct 13, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, Halloween (and its sequels), and beyond. Among its highlights are re-recordings of three lost cues from The Thing, not included on that film’s original soundtrack album. The Thing marks one of the rare occasions that John Carpenter entrusted the task of scoring one of his films to another composer, the legendary Ennio Morricone. Upon receiving Morricone’s score Carpenter felt that the film would benefit from the inclusion of additional music and took the initiative to record and insert multiple synth driven cues.
