Sometimes you really do have to stop and smell the roses. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I’ve been playing @joespub for 16 years but math has never been my strong suit. Looking out at the faces of old friends, new friends and my family was overwhelming in the best way imaginable. Thank you New York City for showing up to my show on Lafayette Street Wednesday night and making it a sold out one at that. I always have such a good time at this venue and the staff always takes such tender care of me. This was only the second show for my newly minted band that I am so incredibly fortunate to play with. It was an unbridled joy to share some of the songs off of my upcoming record with that beautiful crowd of friends and family. I truly can’t wait to do more of it in 2024. Just wrote this new song in one quick sitting and since it came so naturally I figured both the scary and right thing to do was share it ASAP before I could start second guessing it into oblivion. Another brand new song hot off the griddle. I reckon this one wants to be called “Never Leave” or something akin. Was trapped in my FEELS again today and it was either sit down and write this or run screaming down the sidewalk and I didn’t want to scare my neighbors. I’ve had this chord progression, melody and chorus since 2014 but the verses were different. I think I maybe even played it once at a show around that time but it never sat 100% right with me. Once the new lyrics came forth today I felt the click and knew it was finished. Probably. I dunno. We’ll see.

Joe’s Pub 10/18/2023
The last set of my Sorta Summer Tour 2023. Had to cut a few songs for time but the years have taught me to embrace the game of mid-set tune-Tetris that occasionally happens onstage. It’s a thrill. I had 18 shows booked over the last 4 months. Covid saw to it that I only played 14 of them but I shall attempt to accept the win anyway since that kind of commitment to playing live is a new trick for this old dog. Thank you to everyone who came out to these concerts. It’s been a joy sharing new songs and connecting with you all and I can’t wait to keep it going. I’ll have an east coast date or two in the fall to announce soon and I’ll be back in the saddle with gusto in 2024 doing my darndest to come to a town near you.
See you this weekend Malden, MA! I’ll be opening up a SOLD OUT show for the one, the only @themikeviola at @facesbrewing this Saturday, October 14th. It’ll be my first time playing the Commonwealth since 2015. Can’t imagine a better bill to be back in town for!
