She asked me if we could dress up together for Halloween. I said… “Yes, chef.”
Today is @jayduplass’ birthday. He does not give a shit about birthdays. He only cares about making unique art that might mean something to some of you. This is one of the 1,329,771 reasons I love him so.
Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to the Katie-est of all. The love of my life. The goddamn greatest. This person showed me that a life full of giggles, romance and fun was possible. Here’s to another year.
A little teaser…
“A book that anyone will love… You can enjoy it even if you have no idea who the Duplass brothers are.” – Janet Maslin, The New York Times. aka “I don’t really know who these fuggin dorks are but I weirdly didn’t hate it?”
Tini tinis, here we come! #SomebodySomewhere returns to Kansas with Season 2, April 23 on @hbomax

I once spent some very special time with @sterlingkbrown in a BIOSPHERE. That is all I have to say about this for now.
“Somebody Somewhere” isn’t a marquee show that overtakes your Twitter feed Sunday night and your conversations on Monday; instead, it’s the kind of series buoyed by word of mouth and the sheer wonder that something like this exists — and exists on HBO.” – THE PLAYLIST
This year’s premiere baby-dropping comedy is almost here. Stream #TheDropMovie on January 13 on @hulu.
You are up and you are not sure what to watch? This is on @hbomax and @hbo right now? The music and people in here are very, very special? YEP.
I can’t believe it’s finally happening! So deeply proud to be a founding member of the new @vidiots in Eagle Rock. Let’s go!
Been quietly working on a new documentary over the last few years. Excited to premiere at @sxsw along with our amazing partners at HBO.
Congrats to our whole SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE team on the nomination! #gothamawards
Secret project at @tribeca. Shhhhhh.
Been working on this one for a while now. The great documentarian and human @samjonespictures, who gave us TONY HAWK: UNTIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF and I AM TRYING TO BREAK YOUR HEART, gives us a deep dive into the worlds of @jasonisbell and @amandapearlshires. Premieres April 7 on @hbomax. I love this movie.
A few years ago my good friend @sarahadinasmith called me and said “I have a movie idea that we have to make together.” I asked what it was and she said… “I’m not sure yet but I know our lead character drops somebody else’s baby.” That was enough for me. Today we are here, with the help of a group of ridiculously dedicated and talented writers, actors, producers, crew members, and adorable baby helmets. It was a labor of love… the kind of dark, scary, cringe-worthy love I’ve become very fond of. Is this like FORCE MAJEURE set in Mexico? Kind of. But it’s also something else, and I hope you show up on @hulu today to find out. Now… play the gringo music!
I’m an Angel Donor to the inaugural APIDA Arts Festival, Celebrating the creativity of Asian, Pacific Island, Desi/South Asian Americans in Chicago, May 5-7. The inaugural festival is the largest of its kind and it’s about time. Three full days of theatre, music, dance, fine arts, film, food, discussions, and more… and it’s free. Help keep it that way and also raise the voices of Asian Americans by contributing any amount to this weekend-long arts party at https://www.apidaarts.org/get-involved @apidaarts #AAPIHeritageMonth #apidaarts #aapiarts #stopasianhate #fundraising #representationmatters #apidaarts
I’m spending this GivingTuesday fulfilling teacher requests on DonorsChoose. If you give today, DonorsChoose will double your donation. Double the school supplies. Double the support for teachers. Double the support for the kids.
Our documentary on the inimitable @jasonisbell premieres today on @hbo. Come for Jason, stay for @amandapearlshires. And their dark, truthful humor. And the incredible music. And a whole lot more.
I think that @joannasternberg is one of the most brilliant, inspired songwriters of their generation. The new album is coming soon. They even made a music video for it by hand. Here is a small tease. Follow them here and to the ends of the universe…
For a little over $1,000 I just fulfilled basic materials requests for 25 underserved teachers and classrooms on @donorschoose. Most campaigns have a corporate match $1 for $1. I do this with my kids and it’s always so fun and rewarding. Check them out, link in bio.
