Dianne Feinstein, pioneering female politician and expert on international security — and just a lovely person — is dead at 90. I hope she’s remembered not for her decline in recent years but for her trailblazing career that did so much good. RIP, Dianne. What a career of public service you had!

Last backpacking trip of the season! I took Connie on the 50-mile loop around Three Sisters wilderness in central Oregon. It was cold at night so I borrowed her friend @tux.talk’s dog sleeping bag, but Connie didn’t quite get the hang of it. Or maybe she just preferred trying to burrow into mine. Sigh. I hate to put my backpack away now.
