SHISHAPANGMA 2 – “My Dear Anna. Your talent was an inspiration to see. Your legacy will always be as one of the strongest and best mountaineers – You shine bright over the peaks.
We were on the same mountain on the same summit push – I’m sorry I couldn’t save you. Thank you for being my sister, my friend. I will always remember you Anna, words can’t even describe how I feel. The phrase ‘missing you’ isn’t enough, now you are part of my life, you will live in my memories as long as I live. You had a wonderful positive impact on the Nepalese community – you donated to give kids a better education at Khumjung Secondary School, and raised thousands to help Guide Yukta’s village school in Laprak – your legacy is talent and kindness.
My heartfelt condolences to your loved ones.”
As sent to Team Nimsdai via limited Satellite phone comms from Shishapangma. Nims is currently on the mountain helping to coordinate the rescue operation together with the other guiding companies involved. We thank you for your support and kind wishes during this sad time and we send our thoughts to the loved ones of everyone caught up in this tragic avalanche. (Team Nimsdai.)

SHISHAPANGMA UPDATE:
My team and I have been working very hard behind the scenes since the tragic avalanche to try and get Anna and Mingmar home to their families. Out of respect for their families, and because we have been grieving ourselves, I have not posted on here. But don’t confuse that respectful silence with not caring or not taking action to help and support their families, our team and everyone involved in this sad event.
We have been working hard with all authorities and organisations involved. We gained the kind permission by the authorities to return up the mountain to recover Anna and Mingmar back to a safe location at Camp 2. I led the team to find our loved ones and bring them down to Camp 2 – this is as far as we are allowed to bring them currently. We have their precise location. This was tough on the team both physically and mentally, but we needed to do this to ensure we could find them again. We are now working with all authorities on repatriation – this will involve a helicopter flying to Camp 2 to bring them home to Kathmandu and then on to their families. I am so grateful and thankful to everyone working so hard to bring this about. All we want to do is reunite the families with their loved ones this climbing season.
We would ask the media not to speculate about this tragic incident. I have seen a few reports and have been shocked at some of the assumptions made – without anyone coming to those involved – and without thinking about the impact this will have on everyone’s loved ones.

BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS.
My heart is still heavy from this last month. I am so proud of my @eliteexped team for the way they have pulled together to support each other, our clients and of course the families and friends of our beloved Anna and Mingmar.
I am now in Kathmandu – still working hard, alongside all the team, families and all authorities involved to get all the correct permissions needed to bring the helicopter to Shishapangma Camp 2 to bring them home.
It seems easy for a few people that have done a few 8000m summits on the fixed lines set by Nepalese climbers to become experts after these tragic events. But for me and my team, our experience is current, we live and breathe the mountains – it is my home for most of the year, no exped leader has as many successful 8000ers and climbs as I do. I would ask certain media to be respectful and remember that they are talking about four people that have lost their lives. It’s too easy for people to become “experts” after the event – but this is not right and it’s not fair – you have to be there, involved and in the moment and you need to know all the details and the full scenario on the ground. Reflection should be for the greater good, not for toxic headlines. Be compassionate and take positive action rather than negativity.
For us, we remain on standby for the helicopter mission, we hope for a positive resolution soon. Despite what the team have been through, we are looking forward – we know our loved ones would want us to. This week, we will welcome our Ama Dablam and @skydivenimsdai teams to Nepal. It seems strange to think about going back to the mountains again, however the mountains have always brought me peace and healing. And I have full faith in my team. They have proven themselves to be the best – kind, caring, resilient and knowledgeable.
#OneMountainCommunity I am proud to be part of.

Heart in the sky.
It feels good to be back skydiving with the @skydivenimsdai team. These guys are the best of the best and are creating an experience like no other over the Himalayas.
Today we jumped from 23,000ft over the stunning mountains and it felt good to be back under canopy again. There’s nothing quite like the combination of adrenaline and peace that comes from skydiving – the exhilaration of the jump and the peace and tranquillity of the time under canopy, watching the mountains drift by below.
We are proud to bring this tandem and solo skydiving experience to our adventure community – combined with the trekking experience which explores the amazing history and culture of Nepal. This is another way of helping to try and grow the economy and tourist offering in Nepal, thereby helping to support the local Big Mountain community in new and sustainable ways that are sympathetic to our home the earth.
Some of our jumpers combined this with the @eliteexped Ama Dablam exped. We will be returning to 23,000ft next Spring and Autumn season for more skydiving action, so reach out to the team for more info.
