A primeira vez que Pelé foi forçado a voltar ao campo devido à insistência do público aconteceu em Lima, Peru, em 17 de janeiro de 1962. O Santos estava vencendo o Alianza por 5 a 1. No intervalo, o técnico Lula substituiu Pelé por Pagão, mas a torcida, insatisfeita por não ver o craque santista retornar com a equipe, começou a protestar e ameaçou invadir o campo. Às 3h da madrugada em 23 de outubro de 1940, nasceu em Três Corações, uma cidade do interior de Minas Gerais, a aproximadamente 300 quilômetros de Belo Horizonte, Edson Arantes do Nascimento. Ele era o primogênito do casal João Ramos do Nascimento, conhecido como Dondinho, e Celeste Arantes do Nascimento. Eles também tiveram mais dois filhos, Jair Arantes do Nascimento, apelidado de Zoca, e uma menina chamada Maria Lúcia do Nascimento Magalhães.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born on October 23, 1940 at 3 am, in the city of Três Corações, located about 300 kilometers from Belo Horizonte in the interior of Minas Gerais. He was the first child of João Ramos do Nascimento, also known as Dondinho, and Celeste Arantes do Nascimento. The couple had two more children, a son named Jair Arantes do Nascimento, who was nicknamed Zoca, and a daughter named Maria Lúcia do Nascimento Magalhães.
