AT LAST! From Nov 1, the massive Doctor Who back catalogue will be available on the BBC IPlayer. Free! (Well, pay your licence fee, ya monkeys.) But SO MUCH WORK has gone into this, by fleets of people. All the episodes subtitled and audio-described, with sign language too, what a feat. Plus The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, Class, even Confidential will be there! It’s huge, wonderful, and I hope, forever. Thank you, BBC & BBC iplayer. If only we had a name for this Doctor Who universe, like… Whoworld or Doctorhaus or Gallimaufry or… Let me think…🤔 ♥️ BBC Iplayer
TONIGHT!😃 @bbcone
It’s 20 years since the BBC announced that Doctor Who was going to return in 2005! And now here we are again. Love this show ♥️ @bbcdoctorwho @bbciplayer @bbcone @disneyplus @the_ivy_collection ♥️♥️➕🟦 Cardiff

It’s rare for me to walk into a newsagent’s and find a Doctor Who magazine I knew nothing about! 😂This has got some amazing photos. And it’s only £3! Nice work. Happy 60th! 🎂 @dailymirror

This place is closing! 🥺♥️I love @mumblescoffee. The best owners, best staff, best coffee. Great karaoke too! And my husband loved it, he sat in every corner of that place and chatted and hooted and made wonderful friends. During his illness, they treated him with great kindness, which I’ll never forget. Great days in times past. HOWEVER. It’s only moving 200 yards round the corner! 😃 Opening next week. But ghosts and echoes might always linger around this old site. Happy days ♥️ @mumblescoffee @microlot_ @morgan_barry4 @janiemezza @willspurr98 @tomwright31 @mauriceyip @rileykings1 @garethlew and many more! Xx Mumbles coffee

So sad to hear that Godfrey Evans has passed away. The founder of the West Glamorgan Youth Theatre, the most massive influence on my life. My school’s headmaster despised drama, the idiot, but Godfrey ran the WGYT outside school hours, and in holidays, for kids right across the county. Those companies became friends for life. And he taught us so much; about the plays, but far more than that, about friendship and hard work and diligence and trust. And the WGYT got me writing for the first time; it showed me that writing was for anyone. And that youth theatre became, for me, a safe gay space – not by design, just by gravity; a lot of us were escaping the school yard and the thuggery of comprehensive schools in the 1970s, to escape to a place where you could laugh and invent and be yourself, where the older boys we’d look up to were aspiring to be drag queens, how glorious is that?! God, the happiness. Godfrey Evans changed my life for the better in a thousand ways. I loved him, Thank you ♥️ @wgytc

Morning! Manchester
Pride memories! Proud to march with @cheddar_gorgeous and @annaphylactic1 on behalf of @georgehousetrust, doing such great work to eradicate stigma and educate across the north west. What a great day. Viva Manchester! ♥️ 🌈
Our government lies about seven bins and meat tax and devotes itself to hating people… while children starve. But good people try to change this, and @magicbreky are the kindest of souls. They want every child to have a good breakfast; what could be better? I know times are tough, but try to support them ♥️
John Stevenson (1937-2023). A great lion of scriptwriters has passed away. John wrote hundreds of episodes of Coronation Street, and co-created Brass with Julian Roache. When I was at Granada, I was terrified of him. He once said ‘Hello Russell’ and I was happy all day that he knew my name. His writing bristled with truths and wit and insight. I was once in a commissioning conference, when Ken Barlow had come back from a very unhappy family holiday. Another writer piped up, ‘But why did they go on holiday? If they’re so unhappy?’ John turned his mighty beard towards him. ‘ALL unhappy families go on holiday.’ Wonderful ♥️ @coronationstreet @itv Granada Studios

CASUALTY, “Switzerland” by Michelle Lipton. Wonderful piece of work. Two world class actors, Di Botcher and Bob Pugh, at their finest; two Welsh leads in prime time, still a rare thing! The most beautiful script, unexpectedly funny with a hard-won simplicity, powerfully straightforward. “Will you come and sit with me?” What a love story. Made in Cardiff 🏴 @bbccasualtyofficial @bbcone @bbciplayer
My school was closed because of faulty concrete. In 1974! High Alumina Cement started collapsing, just like RAAC, huge scandal, tons of buildings were closed. And now, we’re told, no one studied concrete for the next FIFTY YEARS?! (We couldn’t be taught online, we were taught in a field of portakabins and had a right old laugh.) Olchfa School
Sam and Sadie meet as children, then work together as students, alongside best friend Marx, but they have no idea what adult life holds in store… I LOVED this! I kind of presumed it wasn’t for me – the characters are gamers, and design games for a living, and I’ve never gamed in my life apart from one month with Sonic (it drove me mad and played in my head night & day until I had to give up!). But that’s a stupid attitude to literature, I’m so glad I persevered. I really loved this until its devastating central event, and then I absolutely adored it. The chapters dealing with that event are magnificent. The whole thing is, with such wisdom and tenderness about friendship and love as the years march on. Wonderful. Also, a Doctor Who sticker gets mentioned on p.67, hooray!

‘“Promise me, we won’t ever do this again,” Sadie said. “Promise me, that no matter what happens, no matter what dumb things we supposedly perpetrate on each other, we won’t ever go six years without talking to each other. Promise me you’ll always forgive me, and I promise I’ll always forgive you.” These, of course, are the kinds of vows young people feel comfortable making when they have no idea what life has in store for them.’
