Navratri is dedicated to the worship of different forms of the Goddess Durga, who symbolizes feminine energy and power.

Nine nights of Navratri:

1. Pratipada: This is the first night of Navratri. On this night, the Goddess is invoked and worshipped as Shailaputri, the daughter of the Himalayas. Devotees offer their prayers to seek the divine blessings of the Goddess.
2. Dwitiya: The second night is dedicated to Brahmacharini, the Goddess who symbolizes devotion and penance. She is depicted as a meditating deity.
3. Tritiya: On the third night, the Goddess is worshipped as Chandraghanta, who wears a half-moon on her forehead. She is a symbol of bravery and courage.
4. Chaturthi: This night is dedicated to Kushmanda, the Goddess who is believed to have created the universe. She is often depicted as sitting on a lion.
5. Panchami: Skandamata is the form of the Goddess worshipped on the fifth night. She is the mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya), and her name means “Mother of Skanda.”
6. Shashthi: On the sixth night, Katyayani is venerated. She is considered the fierce form of the Goddess and is often depicted wielding weapons.
7. Saptami: Kalaratri, the seventh form of Durga, is worshipped on this night. She is associated with protection and the removal of obstacles.
8. Ashtami: On the eighth night, devotees celebrate the form of Mahagauri, who is believed to cleanse the sins of her devotees. She is depicted as having a fair complexion.
9. Navami: The final night is dedicated to Siddhidatri, the Goddess of supernatural powers and achievements. Devotees seek her blessings for knowledge and wisdom.

Throughout these nine nights, people observe fasting, perform special prayers, sing bhajans, and dance the traditional Garba and Dandiya Raas to celebrate the divine energy of the Goddess Durga. The festival culminates on the tenth day, known as Vijayadashami or Dussehra, which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

Navratri is not only a time for religious observance but also a celebration of culture, dance, music, and vibrant traditions, bringing people together in a spirit of devotion and joy.
