But misogynists want to erase women from the streets, from public space, from work and school and society, they want to erase women from life. Whether it is the Taliban in Afghanistan or the bigots in Turkey or the fanatics in Iran or the fundamentalists anywhere in the world today, they have this in common: They want to erase women, attack and destroy women’s rights. This is the famous Sycamore Gap Tree—it is an iconic tree, much loved and treasured. It was at least 300 years old. Imagine all the history it has witnessed! And it was also known as Robin Hood Tree, ever since it was featured in the film. This gorgeous, beautiful tree that held so many stories and memories was felled in a deliberate act of vandalism. They came, they killed the tree and then ran away. It just broke my heart. Why this hatred towards nature? The earth feeds us. The Mother Tree.
