Still a while till I’m ‘home’ but listening to this song sure soothes the soul. Missing Patch something terrible. Home is more likely to be where his furry butt is at.
Happy for the good food, nice gyms to train at (some that are open 24/7) a comfortable ass bed to lay in, good people to laugh at things with. A sweet & cold as ice coconut water. A cloudy grey sky and cool cool wind off the water, people smiling, mutual understanding. Books!
It goes on and on.
What’s home to you?
What are some things you’re grateful for?
#thankyou #moreplease #home
[At the end of another day of shoot for Double Ishmart from an undisclosed location.]
@mehrasilky thanks for this shera look I have going on 💕 🦁

So much has been happening and not happening these past couple of months and projects under wraps means I can’t post about them.. yet. scrolling back through pictures on my phone my heart feels full, giddy – a strange sense of home sickness for these moments that passed by too fast. never to return. Sheesh. like knowing this moment is so good and it’s going to be over too soon and I’m already sick to my stomach b/c of it. Aaaaaah. Not enough time in this one life to do it all, but mannnnn we get to try right?
Here’s to trying 🚀✨

Night shoots, 7pm to 7am –
I call it the twilight zone.
Sacrificing sleep to get the training in to keep everything anchored, grounded, rooted. I shouldn’t call it a sacrifice really, it’s a blessing to be able to shift gears and know what’s more important, so I can focus more on the task at hand. ez as day to night, night to day.
@krisgethin thanks for the reminder💯
Ahhh a much over due book post!
[I’m on month 2 of travelling 🧳 🌎
And def carrying a mini library with me.]
Books read:
🔸Troubled Blood by @robertgalbraith
🔸Page Boy by @elliotpage
🔸 A Bright Ray Of Darkness by @ethanhawke
Currently reading:
🔸 Emma by Jane Austen, as well one other book which has made me leave Emma behind I’m afraid to admit. Hint : 🐙
I have been on a Robert Galbraith spree since I realized (too late) that the series is still ongoing! Love the style of story telling and this book kept me up way too late on an already sleep deprived shoot schedule, lol.
– Crime, mystery, top notch writing.
I would consider ‘Page Boy’ essential reading; simply for understanding – which is simple enough to say but never so to receive or offer.
I read A Bright Ray of Darkness straight after and what a stark contrast of stories. Introspection, self loathing, forgiving and indulgent.
[ I should also admit I have finished the next RG book, ‘The Ink Black Heart’ already as well 🫠😂].

📚 Books!!
Really outdid my reading since the last book post. Chuffed. 7 books read & 1 currently reading>>
🔸’Romantic Comedy’ by Curtis Sittenfeld.
Gave me throwback vibes to Emily Henry’s book lovers for some reason and left me wishing it was funnier & that we got to delve into the characters more deeply.
🔸 ‘I’m a Fan’ Sheena Patel.
Toxic relationships that may as well be wholly unreciprocated and the POV is you’re still absolutely obsessed w/ them plus their wife and gf.
🔸 ‘We Play Ourselves’ Jen Silverman.
Interesting. Not about relationships w/ people entirely but more of how we relate to our creative outlets and things that make us feel alive. About fame and the lack there of. About finding our way back.
🔸 ‘Milk Fed’ Melissa Broder
A very interesting read. Will make you think about our relationship to food and people and how much we weaponise ourselves, people and esp food ( I would hope it makes you think – is what I should’ve said). The reverse of how we weaponise the above too – and find sanctity, security and serotonin in them. Satiated.
🔸 ‘Yellowface’ Rebecca F Kuang
Slightly similar to ‘we play ourselves’ in that here as well there is hunger for fame & success. The dark side of the literary/ fame/success obsessed world. The dark side of being a writer^ lol.
🔸 The Maid’ Nita Prose
Murder mystery after too long.
Happy I started branching out! Not the most interesting unfortunately lol. Just got through it.
🔸‘The Silent Patient’ Alex M.
A very fun well written albeit slightly predictable murder mystery. Blazed through it.
Currently reading:
🔹’no one is talking about this’ Patricia Lockwood.
Phew! Wbu!? What y’all reading? 👀

📚 Books!
🔸Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus:
I started this book months ago and couldn’t get into it – picked it up again earlier this month and blazed through it. It be like that sometimes. Found myself so upset at the injustices she suffers in the book and thought about Miss Zott for weeks after. You think it’s a love story but goddamn it’s so much more.
• Page turner, inspiring.
TW: Assault, Death, Bullying.
🔸Almond by Won Pyung Sohn:
This book disturbed me to the point I didn’t want to read further for fear of the situation getting worse for the characters. I kept finding myself wondering what happened next and would inadvertently sit down and turn the page. Glad I got through it. Would highly recommend reading the ‘Authors note’ once you’re done to have the ‘Ahhhhaaa’ moment.
• Intense & moving. Awareness
TW: Death, Murder, Bullying.
🔸Before the coffee gets cold Book 2 & 3 by Toshikazu Kawaguchi:
I enjoyed the first book when it came out and finally got around to reading the remaining 2 in this trilogy.
It gets repetitive in that they love to go over the story of the cafe, the rules, how it’s located in the basement and describe the 3 clocks that never tell the actual time, lol. Apart from that it’s fun, sad & interesting to meet different characters and learn their reasons for travelling back in time. The story of the ‘Ghost’ who occupies that seat is also finally revealed.
• Heart warming, second chances.
TW: Death.
🔸Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata:
Gave me déjà vu to ‘No such thing as an easy job’ (previous book post) in its repetitiveness to an extent- only here there were moments I wanted to shake the character and yell, ‘NOOOOOOOO WHYYYYYYYY’, lol.
•Odd, quirky.
(Contd. in comments) 🙂
