About last night……
There was a party. And lots of people I love from all the different chapters of my life popped in. And I can’t wait to post all those pictures……later.
Cause today, the only thing that matters is this guy. @jeffreydeanmorgan .
4 years ago today, we got married.
He carried our daughter down the aisle and had our son as his best man. The second I saw them all standing there at the ceremony, I started SPRINTING down the aisle. Seriously, a bride has never hustled that fast. I just wanted to get there, and be with them. And even though we pretty much agreed on our first date that forever was starting, it felt nice to stand up with our friends and family, after a decade of being together, and take vows.
I love you Jeffrey. It’s hard for me when I work. I feel guilty and like I’m failing if I’m not 100% focused on home. But you have been so wonderful about being there for the kids and being a safe space for me.
You’ve pushed me to take risks and be my whole self. I want to always race back to you guys. I want to shout Thank You from the rooftops. Also, I want to kiss. 😘

Anniversary date gives me an excuse to highlight Day 5 of artists making the world a more magical place!
Years ago, @jeffreydeanmorgan and I wandered into @chasecontemporary gallery here in NYC. We’ve always been art gallery dwellers. That was one of our first dates in Santa Fe…hopping from gallery to gallery across the square. We have hit up galleries in London and Barcelona and Rhinebeck and little tiny small towns across America. Like moths to a flame.
Chase Contemporary Gallery always had pieces in the window that stopped us in our tracks.
What I love about this gallery is how inclusive they have been to our children. Every time we go in there, the owners make a point of introducing our kids to the artists and asking them real questions about their interests and what they like about the exhibits. I’m so grateful that they are nurturing an appreciation for art in my kids.
Last year for our anniversary Jeffrey surprise me with this @connorbrothersofficial piece that I’m obsessed with. This year, to celebrate my book, he came home with these two fabulous book covers from the same artists. As luck should have it, the gallery was hosting a party for its current artist in residence… @lilblackgoat . Logan Sylve is such a talent, and we loved discussing his background of growing up in Louisiana and learning about his current adventures in Paris. I love his use of color and some of the mischievous toothy grins in his paintings. George became obsessed with this giraffe painting!
Places like this nurture young artists and so we love visiting every chance we get. I hope that you guys give them a follow and then find galleries in your own town to support.

Before the clock strikes 12, I have to highlight my Day 4 pic for creatives that make the world a better place!!! And I have to give so much love and respect this this woman… @danneelackles512 .
Danneel is a dreamer. She can see an old house and turn it into the most hip, bohemian design palace you’ve ever seen. She can see a empty field and envision a brewery. She can see a basic pitch document and know how the entire series should look and feel.
She has impeccable intuition, and has made my life immeasurably better by being the voice of reason and support and unabashed mischief.
Many many many moons ago (like 12 or 13 years), she and I conceived a movie idea called “Christmas Witches”. I can’t spoil the plot, but it’s FUN. And it’s still a dream of mine that we’ll get to make it together. Tonight felt a little bit like that movie,…just a couple witches, putting good energy out into the world. 🧙♀️

Been in the car for over 10 hours. Traffic was not on my side today. But! It didn’t even matter. Yesterday, being with @ahoffmanwriter was the stuff of daydreams. Finding out how much we have in common was really fun. I called my husband afterward and just gushed about how happy I was.
Alice’s books mean a great deal to me. They gave me a model for the kind of woman I wanted to become. They showcased female friendships in a way that has absolutely imprinted on the real life relationships I’ve built. Sitting with her and making big plans for future ideas makes me really excited for what’s to come.
But tomorrow, I go backward. I’m doing a book tour event at @park.viewhs.ptsa . I get to walk the same hallways that I did as a teenager. I’m gonna go stand on the same stage that I did as a third grader doing theater for the very first time. And I’m probably gonna cry. Most definitely going to cry.
Thank you to everyone who is making this little journey to all of my old homes so memorable and fulfilling. And thank you to Alice. Your words have been a different kind of home. But the woman behind the words is more exciting than I could’ve anticipated. Xoxoxo
When I was a kid, I’d watch “Bell, Book and Candle” with #jimmystewart and #kimnovak over and over, wishing I could just live in the Zodiac Club. So when I finally did move to NYC at 18 years old, I sought out the jazz clubs, the calypso bands, the burlesque shows. Cajun was a favorite haunt on 16th and 8th Ave.
Yaffa Cafe was bursting with bohemian spirit.
The Slipper Room became a sanctuary of strange.
This week, we got to celebrate Grimoire Girl in our very own Zodiac Club…. @canaryclubnyc . I feel so lucky that I found my people – a dreamy mix of artists and creatives who are also perfectly debaucherous!

I’ve been a fan of Julia‘s cocktail account for a long while now and so I was thrilled when she offered to make a special Grimoire Girl drink using our very own @mflibations Blackberry Gin.
The last 2 days have been a whirlwind of promotion for the book and then attention to home, where I’m a part of a group that is planning a Halloween festival for our kids. It’s 100 mph in two very different directions. So taking a moment to pause this evening and raise a toast to all of you? That’s exactly how I wanna wrap up this very exciting pub day.
I went to dinner tonight with my three favorite people. My kids and my husband. And now I’m reading through so many messages of support from people who have jumped into this book. You guys are just the most thoughtful. And that kind of collective loveliness is definitely magic. Thank you for directing it at me. It means more than you know.
