Today is Day 2 in my month long list of creatives I want to introduce you to. These are artists and makers who make the world more magical. And so my hope is that you will follow them and support their shops and products so that they can keep putting good energy into the world.
Today I wanna profile someone that nourishes the soul, @ginger.tooth ! I’ve first picked up Spencre’s book #blottobotany on my very first trip to Salem four years ago this month. It was a pretty little green book in the most fabulous shop @hauswitch . We struck up a friendship online and I was so honored that she asked me to write the forward for her next book, an in-depth exploration into magical recipes that she has perfected over the years. #forestandhome is a gorgeous book and I am so proud of Spencre for continuing to find enchantment in food.
When we unveiled the cover of Grimoire Girl, she sent me a message. We both recognized the similarities between her little green book and mine. Green is the color of abundance. The color of renewal. Make sure you pick up her beautiful books to gift the Kitchen Witch in your life!

The only things I love more than books are the brave and creative authors behind them! And I wanna take a moment today to honor my friend @kramergirl !
I love how unafraid Jana is to live her life as openly as possible and to share in vulnerability with her readers. It’s crazy to me that she and I have never worked together, because at conventions and events she is the person I find myself with having deep chats in a corner.
I highly recommend this new book from Jana – aptly titled #TheNextChapter ! So fun celebrating all the good things happening in her life right now, especially knowing the hard work she put into getting there.

Big announcements!!! 🔮
1. The moderator for our Hudson Valley Book Tour event on October 8th is none other than my wildly handsome husband, @jeffreydeanmorgan !
Back in the summer as we were planning out our stops, Jeffrey called dibs on hosting this event, and I was so touched that he wanted to be a part of the Grimoire Girl tour. He has been with me every witchy step of the way on this journey of self discovery. Sometimes he thinks I’m nuts. Sometimes he’s relieved he married a witch. But he is the Darrin to my Samantha, and I love that we get to live out this Bewitched life together.

2. I couldn’t think of anyone better to launch the #GrimoireGirl Instagram filter! When this idea was presented to me, I was immediately in love with it. Been in the car for over 10 hours. Traffic was not on my side today. But! It didn’t even matter. Yesterday, being with @ahoffmanwriter was the stuff of daydreams. Finding out how much we have in common was really fun. I called my husband afterward and just gushed about how happy I was.
Alice’s books mean a great deal to me. They gave me a model for the kind of woman I wanted to become. They showcased female friendships in a way that has absolutely imprinted on the real life relationships I’ve built. Sitting with her and making big plans for future ideas makes me really excited for what’s to come.
But tomorrow, I go backward. I’m doing a book tour event at @park.viewhs.ptsa . I get to walk the same hallways that I did as a teenager. I’m gonna go stand on the same stage that I did as a third grader doing theater for the very first time. And I’m probably gonna cry. Most definitely going to cry.
Thank you to everyone who is making this little journey to all of my old homes so memorable and fulfilling. And thank you to Alice. Your words have been a different kind of home. But the woman behind the words is more exciting than I could’ve anticipated. Xoxoxo

So I got home from book tour and immediately pivoted to our PTSO Haunted House for the middle school.
I’m implementing a number of lessons from Grimoire Girl….
The house has been named.
Candles, albeit battery powered, will be everywhere.
And I’m teaching the other mothers to read palms and cards.
Doing fun stuff for kids is hands down the thing that brings me most joy in this world. And I really really like other parents who feel the same way.
I wanted to shout out my buddy @lettuceb0y for going all out and building me a coffin with a fully upholstered platform AND a demon toilet from hell!!! Because get this….he’s not even gonna be here this weekend. He and his awesome wife @bwrecky are on a family trip with their daughter. They left this morning, and so they just did this out of the goodness of their cold black hearts so that other kids in the community will have a fun event. How amazing is that?!?!
That kind of generosity of resources and energy is what makes me love this community so much.

Whole big flood of emotions.
The #GrimoireGirl book tour stop at Park View High School had me deep in my feels this past weekend.
I wrote a book about magic.
And my home is most definitely MAGIC. 🌙🌸🌱💖
I woke up early to prep for a long day on Saturday. I stayed in a tiny little house in historic Leesburg, a place I’d cherished since childhood and wrote about in my book.
At 10am I got to Park View and instantly saw my classmate Jordan Snow. His dad had been our beloved pastor at @sterlingumc before he passed my senior year. I’d been nervous, but seeing one of the Snows? Magic.
Then the team from @birchtreebookstore helped me power through signing 700 books? 800? I don’t even know the tally!
Then I went and got a tour of the black box space from the drama dept head and a fabulous group of her kids. I loved giving them the drama gossip from 25 years ago and realizing it’s absolutely the same now. Magic.
Then the journalism kids came in and the cheerleading squad, and I was able to answer their questions and encourage them and hear what their concerns and hopes were. I’m still so taken at how open those kids were. They deserve all of us grownups supporting them and cheering them on.
And then before I knew it, showtime! I was out on the stage where I started performing at eight years old. Only this time I was surrounded by the teachers who shaped me. I had asked them to moderate the event because they should absolutely be sharing in any success I’ve had.
Ms. Dye, Ms. Darr, Ms. Smith, Ms. Land ,Ms. Bleutge, Ms. Urick, AJ Greely, Nicole Spage and the iconic Bobbie Johnson. Just magical women.
Then my ride or die @ash_hoyt helped me present our @pvhs_project_patriot balance of 20k to @amy.gazes – the most POWERFUL and BRILLIANT PTSA president. Amy put together the entire flawless event, while also working and parenting! She is a machine and I am so inspired by her!
Cheerleaders led us all over to the gym for a class photo. And then we did 200 meet & greets to raise money for the PTSA. It was the kindest and most eclectic group of people imaginable.
And then we celebrated. The jocks and goths and metal heads and cheerleaders. Just MAGIC.
Home, I 💖 you.
I came home today to a “congratulations” package from my sweet friend @colinfickes and it just made my heart swell ten sizes! Two tiny antique leather bound books – some dreamy poetry and Edgar Allen Poe -, my very own Morticia!! And his and my secret messenger…the owl.
Colin!!! This note and all this thoughtfulness made me weepy! I’m excited for #GrimoireGirl to come out, but I’m more excited to see YOU!!! Thank you for loving me.

Everyone knows that when I left OTH, working with @tiffanithiessen changed my life. She really helped me navigate the jump from teen dramas to playing an adult and I just think she is the kindest and smartest and most beautiful woman out there!
Her new book is out today and I am so excited to celebrate her! Make sure you go out and grab it and try to see her while she is out on her book tour!
Keeping my fingers crossed that we get to collaborate and create some kitchen magic with leftovers very very soon!

I love that they are a microcosm of the community.
And so it’s my deep-seated belief that communities need to give public schools their full support and love.

Liz is 100% the brains behind this operation. On any given day, she is the person who makes sure that I show up at my scheduled meetings, makes me hit my writing deadlines (or at least come close), deals with Internet stalkers who pretend to be my children, reaches out to brands that I love so we can collaborate, reads all the books and articles I throw at her for potential IP that we can develop, brings me IP that blows my mind, blocks off all of my PTSO meetings and schedules everything around my kids school calendar, helps me plan wrap parties and book launch parties and tours, introduces me to brilliant artists so that we can all team up, is my producing teammate and juggles the seriousness of @ichhstories with the hilarity of @dramaqueensoth, works with my husband‘s team so that our calendars don’t collide, and fun fact…….She is the person who talked me into joining social media!
Liz is a genius. She always makes the right decision. She works harder than anyone. She’s one of those people who can make ANYTHING happen. And I don’t know what she saw in me but everyone else back off! She’s mine!
It feels really nice to have someone I can trust so deeply in my life. She woke up this morning on her birthday and started sending me text messages about the merchandise we are designing for Grimoire Girl. So to that I say…. Go party Liz! The shirts can wait! We’re going to whoop it up next week.

1. On the first day of October, my true love gave to me……
As promised, I am highlighting creatives all this month who have helped make my Grimoire dreams come true! And I absolutely had to kick off this month with an artist who gave me so much inspiration while I was writing this book.
If you’ve been paying attention to my stories over the last few years, you’ll see that I post artwork from @oliviafaust.art all the time! She embodies everything I love in a goth girl…..nostalgic energy, dainty lines like spiderwebs on the page, and a wicked sense of whimsy.
I would look at Olivia‘s artwork while I was writing the chapters in this book and realized that there was no way I could tell these stories without passing along her imagery to you guys. So I sent her a DM out of the blue and asked if she would be interested in collaborating. To my delight, she agreed!
Now it was really important to me that she maintain ownership of all of her work and so I want all of you to go and follow her here on Instagram, but also go to her online shop and buy her artwork! You are going to get a delicious taste of it in my book. But this is the kind of magic you want hanging on the walls of your house.

Packing up to go on the Grimoire Girl book press tour, and I am SO excited that @veerahofficial sent these incredible power woman shoes!!!! What an amazing gift!!!
It’s always hard to get my act together and clean up when I leave the farm. These shoes are GORGEOUS and the perfect amount of naughty!
Get this though….most of their shoes are made from recycled plastic bottles, but these Venus sandals are made from APPLE leather! Which is part of the reason I love them so much. Reducing our footprint is more important than ever and so you’re gonna see me wearing a ton of vintage on this book tour! I had a whole bunch of fun finding some old-school gems on @etsy!
Tomorrow marks the beginning of October. And I’m going to spend this month posting a different Creator every single day that makes me believe in magic.
