Kirsten Vangsness Instagram – #nationalcomingoutday here’s me being my queer bisexual self while being flanked by @detrinis & @muchosgarcias @lalgbtcenter where I get to romp about in #lottieplachetttookahatchet aka Queer Heaven created by @justinelizabethsayre this day is important to me because so much heartbreak happens on this planet & open visible queerness is one of one million ways way to heal the heartbreak. Here’s me, waving at you, fellow person on the LGBTQIA spectrum (& our friends) in the hopes it can ease someone else’s internalized homophobia or remind them they are valid and deserve safety and atunement. Coming Out Day is a thing that happens multiple times a month, a day. Each time I come out it’s a different cocktail – at its best it’s a mix of vulnerability, pride, bravery & joy but sometimes there’s shame in there, sometimes there’s fear, sometimes there’s a LOT of evil internal chatter. So it’s good to have a day to acknowledge this thing called coming out that many of us do because coming out is brave and wonderful and cleansing. Anything can transform with some air, time, sunshine, deep breaths and radical responsibility. Anything can transform into a more expanded thing, as we continue to come out and out and out we are part of creating a kinder more gorgeous world. Keep coming out. Even if it’s just to you. It counts. 🩷💙💜🌈🏳️‍🌈💥
