Nathalie Kelley Instagram – Since first laying eyes on @jeannedekroon a decade ago, I knew I wanted to be her friend. Our shared passion for the woven arts and the women behind the looms has culminated in this blossoming collaboration to bring prosperity and dignity to these artists (who I have formerly referred to as artisans) who by maintaining ancestral ways of weaving and harvesting natural fibers – are also doing the important job of preserving traditional farming techniques and keeping indigenous languages alive. This is what the UN is now calling bio-cultural heritage and it goes hand in hand with the preservation of biodiversity. What a radical thought. A vision of fashion that goes beyond “sustainable,” economies rooted in the feminine principle where incoming wealth seeds regeneration. That is the vision those of us in this work are collectively holding: the brands pictured here @zazi.vintage, @moonrising.co and @kullvi_whims are but a few. @madeforawoman, @oshadi_collective and @estethica_fashion are others.
