Nazanin Boniadi Instagram – I attended @oneyoungworld to share my journey in activism, but left having learned far more than I could possibly impart. While dictators are platformed at the UN, this summit belongs to the young leaders of the world who are impacting positive change. Courage surrounded me as I joined fellow panelists Hasina Safi, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, @marziehhamidi.official to discussed the plight of Afghan and Iranian women. Special thanks to moderator and OYW Managing Director @ellarobertson_ . After a powerful keynote by mental health advocate @lucyhale, I was honored to introduce delegate David Johnson to speak. At 24, he is not only in his final year of medical school, but also founder and president of @letsunpackitco, a youth led movement to build hope, end stigma and demand action to make mental health a reality for Caribbean youth. I also feel immensely empowered and filled with hope after an intimate discussion with leading delegates from across the world. Among them, @crystalasige (Member of Parliament Kenya), @samuelcogolati (Member of the Chamber of Representatives or Belgium), and Anxhela Bruci (anti-human trafficking advocate). These are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are leading today! Which is why the future looks so bright.

This devastating confirmation of what many had suspected soon after she was hospitalized in a military hospital, comes 22 days after reports of her being attacked by morality police on the metro for not wearing the mandatory veil. As long as we don’t hold this regime to account, history will continue repeating itself and the regime will continue brutalizing Iranians and wreaking havoc in the Middle East. My deepest condolences to her family, and to the Iranian people for yet another tragic loss. #WomanLifeFreedom Update: Oct 27, 2023 — Islamic Republic state media has reported that after 28 days in a coma in hospital, Armita has died. When a culture of impunity reigns supreme, history repeats itself. Utterly devastating.
