He takes a break to have chai at precisely 4pm. He declined my offer to have a chai at 3pm, but was happy to watch our shoot and talk with me ..
As we chatted, he told me his only son passed away less than 15 days ago, with a heart attack..
He was so matter of fact about it, as if the the cosmic rhythm of life and death was made apparent to him, as if he knew he would meet his son again sooner or later ..
What I learnt from Mr Heera Lal is calm acceptance in the face of both upturns and downswings, and to continue working.
And to have a fixed time for chai ..
