David Bowie Instagram – DAVID BOWIE VIDEO EP IS FORTY

“You could look into my eyes…”

Around about now, forty years ago, the David Bowie Video EP was released on VHS along with a laser disc in the US and Japan.

Containing the promo videos from the Let’s Dance album; Let’s Dance, China Girl and Modern Love, this release was the only source of the uncensored China Girl video.

To the YouTube generation this probably doesn’t seem a particularly big deal, but forty years ago it was.

And if it took your fancy, you could even dwell on a naked David Bowie’s posterior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK6gAbZdhDc (Linktree in bio)

If you’re wondering about the seemingly gratuitous use of a Tony McGee Bowie portrait, a mono image from this session was colourised for the US advert.
