The hardest mountain in America is a hill. I have spent more brain power trying to succeed here than anywhere else in the world.
We stand on the shoulders of the Outdoor State and it is getting harder for our elected officials to ignore us.
The window to “send” is starting to open.
Failure is not an option. Team work makes the dream work. ✌️

The Hill in DC is a different kind of terrain for our athletes. But nonetheless, they climb that one too.
Last week, POW founder @jeremyjones, POW Athletes @kateplusfate and @grahamzimmerman, and @alik.enney from @burton joined us on Capitol Hill. Since 2009, our lobbying trips have been incredibly impactful, with our Alliance showing up dialed to Democratic and Republican offices alike to tell their climate stories.
Last week’s trip felt extra special. This year, we’ve been working on a new bill – legislation that will greatly benefit communities implementing clean energy infrastructure. With the bill dropping this Fall, we are locking in critical, tangible pieces to meet our climate goals.
We are continually drumming up support from both sides of the aisle for not only our new climate legislation, but Arctic Refuge protection, clean energy infrastructure across the country and the preservation of public lands. In a day and a half, we tallied up a total of 8 meetings with Representatives and Senators, an impactful DPCC lunch with Senate Democrats and sessions with climate policy experts from The White House.
POW and our Alliance are in all of these meetings with the entire Outdoor State (over 50 million of you) in mind, making all of your voices heard.

Indigenous wisdom declares “you sweat you die.”
“Be bold, start out cold” was once muttered at a dark trailhead by the elusive splitboarder, Renegade.
One of the many info nuggets I learned from my hero/mentor Tom Burt, was, “it’s not how fast you go, it’s how long you stop,” that dictates your speed in the mountains.
The reality is that dressing for a day of high output snowboarding in extreme weather is one of the hardest, and most important skill to master.
I personally hate being cold but I also hate sweating.
A lifetime of tinkering has led to the @jonessnowboards line of three puffies we are now offering.
From micro insulation to breathable insulation to serious insulation, I have checked all of mine (and hopefully yours) cold weather needs.
One bonus is that they are built to stack on top of each other for more warmth. This is especially nice when winter camping.

A little loose and wild on my first line on my first official @standardfilms trip.
I still remember the look on @hetzbanger’s face and his big smile and laugh.
The best part of this story however is that 25 years later we still ride together a couple times a year at the resort.
He is still ripping, still laughing, still grinning and I still can’t keep up with him.

Hard to believe I rode this line on Halloween a few years ago. The first turn is still burned in my memory.

First snow of the year in town today is starting to wake up some dormant imaginations.
This is the first #jonesstormchasersplit that inspired #lifeofglide.
It is 10 years old and still in my rotation as my early season pow board. It’s got a few more scratches but still floats like a dream.

Turns have two purposes, speed checks and direction changes. The freestyle minded simply uses them to get from one air to the next. The racer, to get from A to B as fast as possible.
In between these goals lies a wide delta of artistic interpretation and opportunities.
The primary purpose of this one was to slow down. But who says function can’t come with a little flair.

As a failure of traditional schooling my inspiration and education has come from reading books and surrounding myself with people/mentors who were further down the path.
Obi Kaufmann (@coyotethunder) had a huge influence with his books. I have gifted his book #californiafieldatlas more than another book.
His writing and art is on such another level that I am smart enough not to try to emulate.
“Don’t meet you heroes” is a common phrase. While I just spent a few days with my art and literature hero at the @coastfilmfestival and it was awesome.
His passion for art, literature and environment is like nothing I have seen. Or rather his ability to articulate it.
One of the pics is from my journal from Yosemite.
You should be able tell his Yosemite art compared to mine. 😉 The quote is one of many of his sitting in my journals. I pasted the quote over my tent photo.
