The call for a ceasefire is a moral cry for humanity to find another way to achieve justice, security and peace for Israelis and Palestinians.
The devastating loss of innocent Palestinian life and humanitarian catastrophe resulting from Israel’s bombardment and siege of Gaza cannot be morally justified. The evil of Hamas cannot be paid by the civilians of Gaza.
The bloodshed must cease, hostages must be released, and aid must reach those in dire need. In Christ’s name, we cry from our hearts: “No more. This killing must stop.”

A very happy Diwali to everyone celebrating today. I hope it’s a time of joy and togetherness as you mark this festival of light 🌟
Today I was delighted to receive an Apostles Edition of the @saintjohnsbible in honour and memory of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
It was presented at Lambeth Palace by @saintjohnsabbey and University in Minnesota, USA, and is the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine monastery in 500 years. It will be housed for public view at @lampallib.
It was good to meet those who have dedicated over 11 years to creating this Bible – using ancient practices to bring a fresh expression of God’s word into the 21st century, with the ultimate hope of reigniting faith in God and love for the Bible around the world.
I pray their work will bear much fruit – and that by so diligently revealing the beauty of Scripture, many will come to faith in Christ.

Armistice Day calls us to honour all those who laid down their lives for us in the horrors of war, and to pray for all affected by conflict around the world. We pray also for the reconciling power of Jesus Christ to transform us all into people of peace and justice.
Today we remember all those who paid with their lives so ours could be free. May we never forget their sacrifice, and may we honour it by continuing to pray and work for peace and reconciliation, the ministry to which Jesus Christ calls us.

On Armistice Day in the Diocese of Exeter, a poignant morning prayer service at St Mary-the-Virgin, Torquay. The space is dedicated to lives lost to bombing in the St Marychurch area in 1943.
I then joined in an Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Torquay. We prayed for healing from past conflict, for bridges across divides, and for peace in the future.
This afternoon at the University of Exeter, I spoke with four incredible people who support the bereaved.
The Good Grief Project stayed with me – it helps people to view grief as an active and creative process.

Today’s decision on the Rwanda policy leaves desperate people fleeing conflict and persecution in limbo. I hope the Government will reflect and reconsider its approach.
Let’s put aside the politics of division and work together to build an asylum system based on fairness, compassion and the God-given dignity of every human being.

The climate crisis is threatening God’s own Earth.
As people of faith, we must act – and we must urge world leaders to act too.

At a Remembrance Sunday service at Plymouth Hoe in the Diocese of Exeter we remembered all those who fought and died for us and our freedoms. Each life points us to the sacrifice Christ made for us on the cross. May we live in hopeful and prayerful thanks for freedom now and in the life to come.

It is wonderful to be in the Diocese of Exeter to see all that God is doing across this great Diocese.
Today I visited The Ilfracombe Academy and encouraged its pupils to remember that their identity is found in God, and not defined by their exam results or achievements.
It was good to also celebrate God’s goodness and the abundance of the natural world at Holsworthy Livestock Market’s Harvest Festival.
Rural life and agriculture are a huge part of the bedrock of this nation – and we must safeguard God’s creation so that we can continue to nourish and sustain our people.
