Recovery is going well so far. But for those wondering how I got here… 🙃
Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.

Sparring got a little out of hand. May need to update my avatar 🤣
20 years since our first date. We met at a going away party my friends threw for me in college when they thought I was about to get kicked out of school. I asked her out but told her we’d need to go out soon since I might only have a few days left. Later on I started Facebook, we got married, and now have three wonderful girls. What a wild ride.

Priscilla and I are optimistic about AI helping scientists to cure, prevent or manage all diseases this century. We’re starting a new project at CZI to build a virtual cell to predict how every cell in the human body will behave — healthy or diseased. To do this, we’re building one of the largest AI compute clusters in non-profit life sciences. We’re hopeful this will help scientists make new discoveries and find new treatments.
Summer vibes
This is an excerpt from my podcast conversation with @zuck inside the Metaverse as photorealistic avatars. As I mentioned, this was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It really felt like we were talking in-person, but we were miles apart 🤯
It’s hard to put into words how awesome this was for someone like me who values the intimacy of in-person conversation. It gave me a glimpse of an exciting future with many new possibilities and fascinating questions about the nature of reality and human connection ❤
Big congrats to all the Meta folks who have been and are working hard to bring this technology to life!

I built Jarvis as my first house AI a while back. Since then, I’ve been working with Meta engineers and some awesome people to build a bunch more AIs that you can all use to get things done or just have fun. You’ll meet them soon in Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger. Enjoy!
(AI voices are for illustration and coming soon.)
Finally learned to braid. Thanks, Meta AI.
Great to be live for Connect today. Excited about all the progress we’re making on AI, virtual and mixed reality, smart glasses, and more!
Our Reality Labs research turns any flat surface into a virtual keyboard with touch typing. We had a race and @boztank clocked in at almost 120 words per minute. I was just around 100 wpm. Got some practicing to do.
Priscilla and I just shared that CZI is launching our third Biohub in New York with the goal to engineer immune cells to detect and treat diseases earlier. Researchers will study how to program immune cells to identify early signs of disease that are currently missed by our immune system and make targeted repairs to stop those diseases before they progress. They’ll also look at applying this technology to diseases that are hard to detect early like pancreatic and ovarian cancers, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. We’re really excited to see progress on this new work.

USING CELLS AS MICROSCOPES TO DIAGNOSE & CURE DISEASES: A MAJOR GOAL OF THE CHAN ZUCKERBERG INITIATIVE (CZI)•
–
On the episode of the Huberman Lab podcast out today I interview @zuck & @priscillachan – Co-Founders of the @chanzuckerberginitiative – a philanthropic organization whose goal is to help scientists cure all human disease by the end of this century.
–
Here we are discussing one of their major projects underway: to develop technologies that allow individual cells of the body to act as microscopes- traveling to and analyzing exactly what needs to be repaired within diseased organs, and then directing those repairs. We also discuss the recent expansion of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to include new Biohubs in Chicago and New York.
–
Later, Mark and I talk more about the tools and resources @meta has developed to help people control and understand their online experiences. We also discuss their latest progress with mixed reality and what’s possible with the Quest 3 and Ray Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Please put any questions you might have in the comments section below this post and as always, thank you for your interest in science!
