Wishing my queer, trans, non-binary, and accomplice community a joyful and generative Pride. We are facing enraging saddening realities and we also have each other: where we get to envisage and co-create an experience of care, love, solidarity, and joy. I’m holding space for all of our feelings and multitudes, as well as the resistance our existence continues to be. We are allowed to be imperfect, complex, messy, silly, salty, beautiful, all the rest and know our humanity matters no matter what the inaccurate projections say. We deserve to just be, today and everyday. I love you.

Selfie video of Sara from the shoulders up dancing on the beach to Beyonce’s “Plastic Off the Sofa”, in a red bathing suit and black sunglasses, @trudy0nduty in a white ballcap and olive briefs, laying on a towel on the sand in the background next to a rainbow umbrella, some beach chairs and blue and white striped towels. The camera spins with a smiling Sara, the ocean waves behind them, as they play with their hair and raise their arm and hand to the sky, exhaling a revitalizing deep salty beach filled breath!

We are queer, trans, cis and intersex. We are gay, lesbian, bisexual and pansexual. We are men, women and non-binary. Some of us don’t like labels, some of us do. We are Black, Brown, white and mixed. We are not a monolith. We are real people. Regardless of what folks experience through a particular lens that entertains itself when writing and delivering stories about fictional versions of us, we here are real. Our lives matter. And there are many states in the US currently attempting genocide against our trans siblings and most marginalized within the LGBTQIA community. Will you join us in the fight for true liberation? What side of history will you be on?

Showing up in solidarity with @wgaeast for the Writers Guild strike and picket line in NYC. Better contracts NOW! The content we consume (and some of us perform 🙋🏽) would be NOTHING without writers. Thank you to all who are showing up to picket, pass out water, coverage, and all who are leading this action. I am here in solidarity as a member of WGA sibling union SAG/AFTRA. Power to the people! Also can I just say how many hilarious and creative picket signs there are? BECAUSE WRITERS WROTE THEM.
.
Pic in color of 2 signs in the picket line (I’m holding the one that’s about writing the lines actors say:)) that read: “Spoiler Alert: We write the lines that the actors say. WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA EAST”, and “#WGA STRONG, WRITERS GUILD ON STRIKE!”
Pic of Sara, at around 8 years old, wearing a light yellow shirt, a huge smile, and an early 80s mullet.
Second pic is of 2 books; Sara’s extra flowery “This is the Story of” baby book open to the Baby’s Arrival page with birthday info, and the very serious looking Fathers Labor Coaching Log and Review Book because 1975.
There is so much to say but I’m gonna keep it simple. You’re welcome.
Happy birthday to me! May this kid continue to feel and know that they are loved beyond their gender, they are valued beyond their productivity, and they will always be held and protected by this softening blossoming adult who may or may not be bringing their killer mullet back.

Sara sings and Sondra Woodruff plays their guitar, both share the stage sitting on stools next to each other, Sara wearing a black ballcap, black hoodie and shorts, Sondra wearing a dark grey ballcap, dark grey button down and jeans. Sara stands midway through and Sondra stays seated the whole song. Toward the end of the song Sara switches to lyrics in Spanish.
Truly an honor to witness our powerful community leaders and artists @qween_jean & @alokvmenon show up and share their truth and wisdom with us in convo w/ @dwyanewade at the Clinton Global Initiative in NYC. Apologies for the wobbly camera work but I had Mio on my lap and he was all kinds of excited to be here. Thank you for giving your attention to these important conversations.
Repost from @thekarenpittman : a smart, hilarious, talented, warm and inviting human who happens to also be a Black cisgender woman modeling what it looks like to practice “ally” as a verb. She plays professor Nya Wallace on @justlikethatmax , among many other roles you have loved to experience. Karen, thank you for letting the people know where you and your account land on discriminatory, bigoted behavior and rhetoric. I couldn’t agree more. I would be remiss if I didn’t add that discriminatory language and behavior against any marginalized community beyond this list is not ok- just so I’m clear. Karen, I appreciate you so much and cannot wait to give you a big ol consensual hug at the premiere. #AndJustLikeThat, Mr. Bigotry got a good talking to. 💅🏽♥️
They will not eradicate us.
Eradicate white supremacy, not trans people.
Eradicate anti-Blackness, not books.
Eradicate dehumanization, not the unhoused and hungry.
Power to the PEOPLE.

Poster of @blacktransliberation Wednesdays in NYC. @blacktransliberation is led by @qween_jean (and brought to life every week by a beautiful powerful group of queer and trans family :)) and aims to end homelessness within the trans population by providing access and resources from community partners that empower and celebrate the TGNC community. By keeping trans people off the street, we can dismantle the current 35 year life expectancy of Black Trans people and prevent systemic oppression. @blacktransliberation welcomes all. Get to know BTL’s work and please donate if possible.

Poster of @blacktransliberation Wednesdays in May 2023: yellow green background, a white box in the upper left corner that reads: “Black (yellow font) Trans (red font) Liberation (blue font) Kitchen (green font)”, a red circle w/black cutlery in upper right. To the right is a picture of a group of Black, Brown, white and mixed queer and trans BTL family. Below this is a horizontal trans flag with “MAY 2023” in black font ontop. Below this are 5 rows of calendar descriptions. From left to right:
1. “May 3, Open Mic Night, Nala Simone & Precious” w/a pic of Nala & Precious.
2. Pic of Black person in white outfit hitting a pose on the dance floor, “Spring Fling” in green font with pics of a Black trans woman and Qween on either side, “May 10th”.
3. “May 17th”, “runway master class NYC mother Jonovia Lanvin, pics of her on the right side.
4. B&W yearbook pics of Black public figures like President Obama and Beyoncé, “yearbook pictures with Lexi”, “May 24th”.
5. “May 31st”, “March for Freedom”, 4 tiny posters to the right that read: “Defund the Police”, “Black Trans Lives Matter”, “Protect Trans Kids”(with 3 Trans flag colored fists), and “ban guns not books”. Below this in black font over a long white oval reads “Every Wednesday 7pm, Meet @ 239 Thompson Street”.
In the U.S. today is a calendar day of “Thanksgiving”. Let’s really think on what this holiday was originally about and how many people do not acknowledge the history for Native Americans, who also carry the trauma of genocide against them. Disrupt the dinner table with the truth. Engage with people in ways that don’t discard. We truly need each other more than ever. We cannot carpet bomb our way to peace.
Genocide is unacceptable. Just like Islamophobia and anti-semitism are unacceptable.
CEASEFIRE NOW.
DE-ESCALATE NOW.

The 90s called, they want their bi-antagonism back.
Its bi-week!
LGBTQIA community has a penchant for eating & discarding its own from time to time. The internalizations & projections snake their way into our daily lives & wreak havoc where intentionality, mindfulness, healing & love are needed. It’s also true that our beloved community has the capacity for building care, joy, safety & inclusivity through a lens that respectfully invites people from all walks of life to participate in, & contribute to, building power, solidarity & accountability measures that don’t discard one another. While we embrace the 90s fashions making a comeback, we must also pay attention to the insidious ways bi-antagonism attempts to make itself new again. And not just in the fictional stories that impact so many of us when we watch it play out on screen/stage, but in the real world- where its impact shames, harms & closets so many who’s lived experiences fall under the bi umbrella (Bisexual, Pansexual, Non-monosexual Queer, Questioning, Bi-curious, no label, etc). This is why we acknowledge that while visibility in media might start important conversations, or even change hearts & minds, it will never equal justice so long as unchecked white pathology, anti-Blackness, queerphobia, bi-antagonism, & the dollar are controlling the narrative & justice systems. Bi people are real & not a monolith. How are we showing up for bi women & men(of Transgender & Cisgender experience), & Non-Binary/Gender expansive people, in the real world? If the answer is “I’m not” then please consider translating the energy summoned by art (commercial or otherwise) that moves us, into fighting for the solidarity & liberation we all deserve to be a part of. Art is not always there to make us feel good, but it is there to make us feel. If one part of our community isn’t free, then none of us are free. Below are 2 integrity led orgs I’ve been supporting through the years that are paving the way for bi inclusivity & care. Please join us in our commitment to supporting real life bi community of all colors, gender identities & expressions:

Image: A meme by graysongoal of Lama Kuzco from Emperor’s New Groove, low to the ground, staring at a floor full of many scattered pink bottles, with one in each hoof. Dark purple background that fades from top of frame to bottom into a purple/greyish floor. There is text in white font in the top right corner that reads: “my brain when someone asks me a normal question”, with overlayed text in white font over several scattered bottles that read: “song lyrics”, “movie quotes”, “childhood trauma”, “random facts”, “the answers I wanted to give”, “weird theories about the world”, “jokes that don’t land”, “neurodivergent interests”.
Non-binary people come in many shapes, colors, sizes, paradigms of belief, cognitive functioning, nationalities, ethnicities, political stances, sexual orientations, gender expressions, personalities, ages, differently abled bodies, immigration experiences, etc. And we are so much more than a gender identity. We have been around since the beginning of time, and we will always be here. I’m sending so much love, light and strength to the many enbies and tgnc folx who are out there trying to just be. I feel you. I love you. 💛🤍💜🖤
