Tia-Clair Toomey Instagram – Sunday, 1:34pm: The fact that there is now a whole competition floor on the Dell Diamond concourse where a concession stand used to be — complete with 5 sets of double-under and lifting platforms, barricades and a sharp-looking @roguefitness backdrop — feels so natural, it’s easy to assume this was always the plan. It was not, but after four days of Book of Job-like weather, @caityhenniger and @billhenniger are taking no chances for the final event. Moving “The Cleanup” from the field to the concourse at the last minute is the latest example of the kind of logistical sorcery the @RogueInvitational has been performing behind the scenes all weekend. But not even Rogue can change the temperature, which dropped from 75° to 50° in the span of an hour earlier this morning. The top heat of women, the last of four heats, spend most of their 45 minute wait trying to stay warm; when @alexgazan_ 🇺🇸 takes a chair into the women’s bathroom, @laurahorvaht 🇭🇺 and @gabimiga 🇵🇱 follow suit. @tiaclair1 🇦🇺 remains outside, pacing around the warmup area with @shaneorr01’s jacket draped across her shoulders like a cape, superhero style. Shane, down to a just a longsleeve t-shirt, paces with her, shivering so hard he’s practically vibrating. A member of the Rogue event team notices, removes his own brand new Invitational hoodie and offers it to Shane, who accepts it with a mix of surprise and gratitude. By the time he pulls it on, @nick.p.jeffries is back at work, the only person on the concourse wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
