Mukherjee (Retired) who now heads PRC said something very powerful that honestly changed my perspective: “Out of so many soldiers who died, they survived. They may be injured. But they survived. This means something. As long as you’ve got a beating heart, you need to make the most of life.” They go by the slogan – it’s not the disability, but the ability to live. The Paraplegic Rehab Centre in Pune was founded 52 years ago after the 1970 Indo-Pak War. The idea was to build a ‘Home’ for the brave men who suffered such brutal injuries. It’s now the largest centre of its kind in our country and one of the largest in South East Asia!!✅ I am so grateful that I got a chance to go here, meet the ex soldiers and spend time with them. The story of these soldiers teaches me that with unwavering courage, we can turn problems into limitless possibilities with unparalleled grit and determination. Definitely something to take back to our lives. Also I would just like to give a special shoutout to Col. Mukherjee here, I’ve never met someone so selfless and full of life. He painstakingly designed the center so beautifully, keeping the smallest details to make the lives of the people living here not just easier BUT BETTER! Today, as I stare at my face on the cover of @forbesindia , I’m filled with a mixture of disbelief, pride, and immense gratitude. (And also some self doubt honestly!) I’ve sat down to write this caption so many times, each time grappling with imposter syndrome and all the immense love i recieved. But let’s be real—it was never about making it to Forbes. This cover serves as a powerful reminder of a life-altering decision I made 1.5 years ago: to ditch society’s blueprint and chase a life authentic to me, uncertainties and all. It was a leap into the unknown, driven by my love for travel and a need to challenge the notion that ‘women don’t do this.’ This isn’t just my journey; it’s ours. I owe every bit of this to you, who believe in my stories, my videos, and the authentic life I strive to live. Our community goes beyond travel; we want to live lives hand-carved by us, not designed for us. Forbes is a big deal, yes, but it’s not the destination—it’s a milestone that celebrates the journey. WHO ALL KNEW THIS? 😲 We all know how hard and annoying it is to have to apply for visas for your international trips. It takes time, energy and money with no guarantee of even getting a visa at the end of it all☹️ But what if I told you that all this can be eliminated with just 1 visa?! A US or Canada Visa is like a golden ticket for Indian Passport holders to explore the world. You get access to travel more than 35 countries visa-free, visa-on-arrival or e-visa!! (Cheaper and cost saving!) Some of these countries are- – Peru – up to 180 day – Taiwan – up to 30 days – Philippines – up to 21 days – Turkey – 30 day Evisa – Oman – 30 day Evisa – UAE- 14 days VOA – Egypt – up to 30 days VOA – South Korea – up to 30 days if in transit to USA – Singapore – 4 days if in transit to or from India And the best part is that each of these visas is valid for 10 years! But it’s not very easy to get… Some things to know when you apply for a US or Canada Visa is- – Canadian Visa is easier to get compared to a US visa as there is NO INTERVIEW required ✅ – The fee for Canada visa is CAD 100 (INR 6,040) whereas US visa is USD 185 (INR 15,400)💰 I personally find getting Canadian visa as a more viable option in today’s circumstances. SriLanka waived off VISA fee for Indians until March 31 2024. THE ETA online is VERY SIMPLE! Just fill it up🥹 it may take a bit for the policy to take place in full swing! Ensure you have your return tickets & ETA when you land! ETA = Electronic Travel Authorization One of my earlier solo trips was to Sri Lanka and this country is truly magical. My itinerary included > Colombo ~ Ella ~ Nuwara Eliya ~ Hiriketya ~ Mirrissa ~ Ahangama ~ Galle I would also recommend: Sirigya (pidurangala hike) Sri Lanka home to over 300 waterfalls, making it a paradise for nature lovers and sees a lot of friendly travellers making it an amazing destination for a solo trip. Would YOU ever do this??!😲 @julian_boes_ and I, both LOVE going out of our comfort zones and doing crazy things but this might have been the CRAZIEST thing yet!! Letting total random STRANGERS pick where we go and that too, right then and there at the airport was wild and full of surprises but SUPER FUN. We had no plans, no bookings and we landed in DALAMAN🌟 It is a small town just 45 mins away from Fethiye. The coastline here is one of the most beautiful in Turkey with the bluest waters. But since our Airbnb was so remote – there were no cabs around so we had to hitchhike our way and our kindness got the best people to help us!! During our time here we visited the abandoned ghost town of Kayakoy (30 mins from Fethiye), para-glided at Olu Deniz (20 mins from Fethiye) and hiked across the Lycian way. DON’T get SCAMMED in VIETNAM… Did you know that the “incense village” is actually just a basic set-up for you to click pictures and nothing like how it looks in those beautiful videos?!😲 similarly, the train station in Hanoi is cute and has a few (very overpriced) cafes – but it’s MOSTLY to take pictures! If you’re someone who’s into photography- you’d love it! But as a cultural/interesting experience- I think they look better on social media than in reality. 🙌 (again – this is my opinion☺️ you can agree to disagree!) If you want to really discover the beauty of Vietnam, go explore the Phong Nha Cave Ecosystem! It’s home to the world’s largest cave systems, formed 5 MILLION years ago. Dive into a world of 400 caves, diverse animal population, and stunning plant life!🦇🌿 When I visited here, I did the Elephant Cave Trek with @junglebosstours and the experience was EPICCC🤩 It costs around ₹7000-8000 ($84-96) with pick up and drop. Stay ahead with these tips: 1. **Split Costs**: Allocate trip expenses among family to keep each person’s cost below ₹7L. 2. **Book Wisely**: A ‘tour package’ combines costs and triggers TCS. Book flights and hotels separately to manage expenses within the TCS threshold. 3. **Credit Savvy**: International credit cards might not incur TCS—double-check with your bank. 4. **Claim Your Tax Back**: If you’ve paid TCS, you can claim it as a tax refund. Just submit your travel documents and TCS receipts when filing your tax returns. Now, the business is run by the youngest daughter of the family! Most of the managing team is actually led by the women of the family💪 The business nerd in me had to meet her and interview her, to know how an old business like this one has survived all these years! SIX generations is no joke! Leila spilled the beans – 1) They reinvented! Rather than being stubborn and sticking to the OG ways, they changed with times and reinvented to fit modern tastes 2) They valued quality over quantity. Rather than opening 10-15 stores across Turkey, they stuck to having fewer outlets but ensuring they retain quality 3) Lastly, Leila said her team is her family. She knows every confectioner, every member. Some of them have been working there for DECADES! In a world where attrition is so high, this business is killing it!
