Atleast they are definitely my heroes because when life threw the worst googly at them, they didn’t give up but instead they shot a sixer back at it💪
Col. Mukherjee (Retired) who now heads PRC said something very powerful that honestly changed my perspective: “Out of so many soldiers who died, they survived. They may be injured. But they survived. This means something. As long as you’ve got a beating heart, you need to make the most of life.”
They go by the slogan – it’s not the disability, but the ability to live.
The Paraplegic Rehab Centre in Pune was founded 52 years ago after the 1970 Indo-Pak War. The idea was to build a ‘Home’ for the brave men who suffered such brutal injuries.
It’s now the largest centre of its kind in our country and one of the largest in South East Asia!!✅
I am so grateful that I got a chance to go here, meet the ex soldiers and spend time with them.
The story of these soldiers teaches me that with unwavering courage, we can turn problems into limitless possibilities with unparalleled grit and determination. Definitely something to take back to our lives.
Also I would just like to give a special shoutout to Col. Mukherjee here, I’ve never met someone so selfless and full of life. He painstakingly designed the center so beautifully, keeping the smallest details to make the lives of the people living here not just easier BUT BETTER!
