I’m breaking code, “lo que pasa en casa, se queda en casa”. (What happens at home, stays at home). It is part of our indoctrination, and how generational traumas continue to thrive. Learning to advocate, for myself, was one of the greatest betrayals to some in my community. But what I really learned while working on myself, was that it was actually an act of love and taking action for those that were coming after me.
