Cat Zingano Instagram – 🫧Don’t forget to dance when there’s bubbles 🫧

I was inspired to go to New Orleans with my friend @coach_randi_8 this past weekend. We decided we are going to take more trips to balance between working hard and having fun.
I remember hearing a story of when my mom went to NOLA with her best friend over Mardi Gras, I thought it was cool they created that adventure for themselves. For us to head there over on Halloween weekend felt like we were doing friendventures some justice. It was good for my heart.
My mom passed away on Halloween night in 2005, it was her favorite holiday. 🎃
After that, Halloween felt very forced to put on a happy face, to act like the anniversary didn’t hurt, to ignore the significance for the comfort and fun of others. Maybe I learned it from her, but I’ve gotten very good at “being ok” when actually I’m struggling. Some days I’d even consider it a superpower.🦸🏻‍♀️
Time has helped and these days I do find happiness in the holiday. Seeing people doing what they want as they have fun and are enthusiastic getting excited over their costumes. I love seeing the big authentic smiles, and of course the trick-or-treaters ☺️
I get why she loved it so much.
I realize it’s ok to feel both sides.
And I do.
I’m feeling grateful for getting swarmed by bubbles, for moments in the darkness that taught me to appreciate light and for the resilience that tough times built in me.
I also miss her, wish I got more time with her and had her to lean on. I know she would be all dressed up. 🧙‍♀️

Some years are harder than others but I feel lucky that I had the mom that I did and that I have the opportunities to use her experiences for motivation.
