Cathy Cat Instagram – JAZZ music YAY OR NAY? Comment! I have bit of a secret story. So I used to listen to a lot of easy Jazz as BGM to relax, study or work.
🎦 Then I watched the movie Lala Land and noticed how much there was about Jazz in it. I was also a bit humbled by how little I knew about the Jazz music style.
🎷 To educate myself a little went to a tiny Jazz cafe in Tokyo that only has 4 seats and let you stay for one hour if you ordered one drink. The master would put up old vinyls and we would talk and he would give me recommendations.
📚 He told me about all the black jazz legends, a bit of history and the generations of artists that followed. It was super wholesome to learn this from a big jazz fan.
In recent months I met Jazz artists and lovers and I’m glad I started learning about it more. I will still dip in and out of music styles but my little jazz journey is something I kept offline until today.
🎼 In Japan there are a lot of jazz cafes so don’t be afraid to Google it and immerse yourself in the music a little. There’s always some something so explore and learn about.
