Cozi Zuehlsdorff Instagram – Writing music for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 4 was such a profoundly JOYFUL time of my life that I’m endeavoring to make a post for each song @matthewtishler and I had the honor of creating. 🥰 Starting with: Puppy Love. Aka the song that almost killed us 😂 From jump we knew it needed to serve two functions: zany theme song (which Tim so kindly asked me to sing! AHHH🥹) and acoustic romantic ballad for Ricky (Josh’s character.) Finding lyrics that felt as emotionally truthful for an eight year old boy to sing to his dog as for a teenage boy to sing to his girlfriend was…darn near impossible. Once we flipped the theme song version into the dog singing to the boy, everything clicked. We could honor Josh’s inherent golden retriever energy lol.
