Here are 5 things I stopped doing in my 50’s that physical & mental health: 1. 🍷🚫I stopped drinking alcohol! Alcohol was a part of my life for 30 years. I’m not saying it was easy to quit, especially since alcohol is at nearly EVERY social occasion and celebration, but cutting alcohol out of my life is the single best thing I’ve ever done for my health. 2. 🍎🍌I stopped snacking on fruit! I used to grab a piece of fruit mid day to get me to dinner. However, research reveals (as well as a continuous glucose monitor I wore to test it myself) that fruit is not the best thing to snack on. Fruit contains fructose, which can spike blood sugar levels and lead you down a path of eating more. It’s best to eat fruit AFTER a meal, not as a snack by itself. 3. 👟 💪I stopped looking for excuses to take the day off of the gym. Intentional movement EVERY day is GREAT for longevity. 4. 🏃♀️😰I stopped doing excessive cardio and instead incorporated more strength training 🏋️♀️, stretching🧘🏼♀️, and balance exercises. 🤸♀️ 5. 😫🚫I stopped looking at Midlife as some sort of crises and started looking for Midlife Opportunities! 🤩🙌🏻 #healthyaging #50plus #lookandfeelyourbestatanyage #midlifechanges

🎃Happy Halloween!👻 😳Have you been dipping a little too often into the Halloween candy? 🍫🍭🍬 😱There are some holidays that scream for us to indulge in foods we wouldn’t normally eat. Halloween is one of them! And while a little indulging is sweets is fine, the sugar crash that follows is not great for our bodies and could sabotage our eating choices for DAYS following that indulgence. 👎🏻 🎢The best way to get off the glucose roller coaster is to never get on in the first place. But does that mean never indulging? NO! Read on ⬇️ 🩸Blood glucose levels normally rise and fall depending on what we eat. But highly processed, sugar-laden treats, like Halloween candy, cause our glucose levels to rise to new heights 📈and then come crashing down 📉BELOW our starting point. This signals our body that our blood sugar is low, making us hungry again. It’s a vicious cycle that zaps our energy and expands our waistlines. Fear not my friends! Here is a trick I’ve been using for decades, and it involves our little friend, FIBER 🤗 🤩I start with a glass of water and 1 scoop of Fiber Lean! The fiber works in 2 ways. 1. It fills you up leaving less room for candy (so you will eat way less) 2.
