A good end to a very special day. Yesterday had me filled with gratitude for having been invited as guest for the Lions Club Diabetes Day special meet. Lions Club showed me that they truly were power meeting purpose. Was delighted to know that a type1 diabetic found at one of their rural area camps was adopted by the area lions club so that her lifelong insulin needs would be met by them. Now isn’t that great!! I’m waiting to see the huge scale magic that such powerful clubs can do while they lead with their heart. Type1 diabetes still remains hidden among the people due to prejudices, social misinformation leading to difficult situations , ignorance… More and more people in the community need to know about it so as not to create unwanted difficulties for the children growing up with this invisible illness. Had a wonderful , awe-inspiring , warm day @magicplanet.tvm . Spent time with some magically abled children brimming with awesome talent . Hats off to them, their parents, their teachers and supporters and especially to the great man behind it all who they so lovingly call -” Magic Uncle”. A little care does go a long way and such care spreads hope and light. I wasnt alone but invited by Type1 diabetic welfare community to be a part of their program and I was so happy to be amongst fellow type1s and their parents. I was with family. We learned from these special children as we helped cheer them on. Whether it be an invisible or a visible disease or disability, it’s difficult to see a third person caring so much and doing the much needed and more. It fills me with hope. We type1s don’t look I’ll and hence others find it difficult to believe that we struggle daily too. In such a special place, with such special people … I feel gratitude, hope and yes, love. Thankyou so much💙🙏 Special hats off to the ever supporting tech expert doctor of us type1s who is always there in one way or another -Dr.Jothidev Kesavadev @jothydev abd Dr.Gopika @gopikagiri124 ; to fellow Type1 diabetic and an awesome worker for Type1 diabetes Federation India – Mr Prashanth Mani @prashanth957 ( thankyou for these pics too). Love to my Amma – Jayasree Thampy and my father -the late – Mr. Suresh Thampy for helping me to be me and always having my back not mentioning even once in passing tht having a life long illness is ever a burden but taking tht burden in a way I never knew about it. 💙 P.S – Embarassed to say I broke dwn while speaking. Something I have never done. Phew. And the happiness is plain to see.
