I spent the morning with hundreds of @momsdemand volunteers and other gun safety advocates to tell the Supreme Court to #protectsurvivors and disarm domestic violence. Hearing these stories was heartbreaking- it is absolutely urgent that abusers subject to domestic violence orders NOT have a constitutional right to possess a gun. Listen to us #SCOTUS !

There is so much devastation in the world right now. So much danger, heartbreak and grief. We feel helpless, enraged, and often don’t know how to aid solutions except to send funds and prayers, and exert pressure where we can.
I think about the facts that I know for sure, and one of them is that gun laws save lives. The shooter in Lewiston, Maine used an AR-15, a weapon of war, during his rampage in a bowling alley and a restaurant. We need Congress to reinstate the ban on assault weapons like the AR-15 and we need Maine to pass an Extreme Risk law, which can help stop a shooter who shows dangerous warning signs from accessing a gun and stop shootings before they start.

She has dedicated countless hours volunteering, organizing, and leading the work to reduce gun violence in America. Katie is also passionate about preserving public education and she volunteers with Public School Defenders to ensure children have access to safe and inclusive environments, diverse books, and comprehensive and accurate curriculum. You can find Katie showing up at rallies, speaking at school board and PTA meetings, knocking on doors to get out the vote, and protesting at the capitol or on the streets in Florida.
