They stay, like imprints in the grass where I laid,
Long after I’ve gotten up and done the things I must do in the day
It’s just that sometimes I can’t move my arms or legs and sit there terrified for a few moments
Before getting up and hugging my beautiful child
And telling her I love her so often that she shouts ‘I know, mama, I know, you don’t need to keep telling me’
So I quieten
I try to be still
And we look out at this peaceful place
While our hearts beat like the wings of a humming bird.
