Today is 2 months since you moved on to the place you often spoke freely about and embraced without fear. I haven’t been able to make this post since you passed as it makes it feel more real. But everyone who knew you knows how much you love to be celebrated.. so here goes… Aunty I’m so grateful for our soul connection that feels as if we’ve spent many lifetimes together. I love being, as you called me, your ready made daughter. Thank you for being my Indian mom and for all of our long chats, beautiful home cooking, smiles on a rainy monsoon day, dancing during films, good luck wishes before performances, backstage memories, spiritual chats, a bed to sleep in, and so many smiles, giggles, and hugs!! It’s painful to know you’re not just a phone call away. But our souls are so connected that when I’m quiet at night I can feel your presence. I felt you bless Tobias and I after our engagement, and although I would give anything to FaceTime you and see your endless joy, I’m grateful I can still celebrate with you energetically! Lauren Gottlieb Instagram – Class footage from my beautiful friend and Superstar choreographer/teacher @brianfriedman’s 3 HOUR Masterclass! 💥💃🏻 For aspiring dancers: it’s so helpful to film yourself and watch it back! Growing up I watched my competition videos for hours to dissect the placement of every move. I also remember watching Brian like a hawk while assisting him, making sure my eye lashes down to my pinky toes were doing the choreography properly. However, I didn’t grow up in the generation that films class. That feels like a new beast, striving to be “perfect” directly after learning the routine definitely adds pressure. I’ve just recently gone back to taking class as professional jobs don’t always push your body and brain the way class does. I don’t feel my best right now. Actually, I messed up in this video a few times (if you couldn’t tell, now you know lol). There’s a little ping to my ego that that says I should be able to dance this better. And I will!! Practice makes perfect. There’s no shortcuts. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional who like me hasn’t danced this hard in years, you just need to begin, or begin again!! Time, patience, grit, and determination and you’ll reach the top of your game!!
