Deepavali, Diwali is celebrated across India as the festival of lights. But why the lights? The lamps?
The lamps were lit by the citizens of Ayodhya to celebrate the return of Rama after his 14 years of exile. It marks his victory over Ravana. Deepavali is also a philosophical metaphor of conquering our inner demons that have a hundred heads in all directions. It is a symbol of an individual’s quest for the knowledge of the self.

As this Navratri comes to a close, it’s important for me to consider the significance of these festivals. The last day, Dashami, where we celebrate the defeat of Mahishasura, the demon, as Durga overpowers him is in fact symbolic of overcoming our own inner demons of arrogance and ego. This song has been stuck in my head for the last few months, so I decided to dance to it.
It beseeches the goddess to help us annihilate our ego.

I had a transit time of 7 hours in the chicago airport… so I found the closest gym. It’s been difficult to train consistently with all the travel and performances. So I do it every chance that I get because…
It’s important to train between performances. It keeps the power in my muscles . This training is different from my regular training to build strength… I call these “maintenance workouts” not “upgrade workouts” 😂
I’ve learned the hard way to not overload between shows when I have several in the week…. Thanks to my coach @somyarout2806
