Shenaz Treasurywala Instagram – In the bittersweet dance of time, Goa has witnessed a transformation after the pandemic. City dwellers swapped their chaotic city routines for the tranquility of Goa. But with that Goa tranquility itself changed and Goa became something new.
Goa, once a haven of tranquility, now witnesses a relentless wave of development, raising rents, construction.

But here’s something I’m not so sad about – Goa has emerged as the Food Capital of India! It’s a paradise for restaurateurs with affordable costs and fantastic seafood.
From top-notch Mumbai sushi to Delhi and Bengaluru’s most famous names all moving here, Goa’s food scene is hotter than ever. It’s a mix of bittersweet, just like life itself.

Shenaz Treasurywala Instagram – I’m feeling Nostalgic about a Goa from the 90s with its bohemian spirit, a place where a few of us felt we had found the best kept secret, chilling on the white sand beaches of Candolim ( yup Candolim) and Baga was where we went to eat chocolate brownies from Tito’s and Seafood platter at Brittos. At night we would get dressed in our hippy dippy attire and ride deep into the jungles to find the secret rave parties. Was a thrill to just find them. And then I would lay on the bedsheets outside and eat andapao under a sky full of stars while my friends danced the night away.

But now, Goa has donned a new attire. The beachside huts have given way to boutique resorts, the beaches are no longer the best-kept secret, and the once-quiet streets where you would just see Goans with their rum bottles and siesta signs now hum with a different kind of energy.

An energy of construction and building.
An energy of investors all looking to make money off Goa’s land. The pandemic changed Goa. Builders building villas that cost 10Cr to 25Cr.
Land prices shooting up.

Shacks with fish curry rice are a rare find replaced by fancy restaurants and speak easy bars. The Goans Rum 🍹 is replaced by fancy Gin Bars( I don’t mind the fancy bars and restaurants, but it’s different)

It’s a new Goa.
Goa has reinvented itself, with a fusion of old-world charm and contemporary delights but I do hope the old world charm remains and the heritage homes and trees 🌳 stay because I would hate to see what’s happened to Bandra happen in Goa.
