Amrutha Srinivasan Instagram - I feel thrilled to see that people think my brunch party look is cute enough to recreate/ be inspired by :)

So here's a little secret. The idea of pairing a velvet blouse with my Kancheevaram was partly inspired by @dhanya_balasubramanian 's muhurtham look where she paired a wine maroon velvet blouse with her gorgeous pink-yellow kancheevaram. Our designs are very different and yet I see the beauty of mixing textures, prints and fabrics in a way that you end up with something so beautiful.

My make up was done by @purpleparrot.makeup who understood the assignment 😂♥️

@priyahairandmakeup_ did some quick thinking on her feet and took some flowers from our thoranam arrangement and added them to my loose bun, last minute (I didn't initially want any flowers but boy my bun looked too cute with them! Priya killed it!)

My blouse and K's whole outfit (bandhi , kurta and pyjamas) were designed by my heart, my love @ashwin.thiyagarajan . He always knows just what to do :)

My saree is from @nallisilksarees .

Our footwear were - a pair of pink sandals from @inc5official (mine) and plain brown juttis from @fabindiaofficial (his).

My jewellery was rented from @prabhujewellers Mylapore - they've got a lovely collection :)

And none of these are paid for shout outs - I just really love these people and brands :) ♥️

Amrutha Srinivasan Instagram - When was the last time you stood in front of a mirror, and loved what looked back at you?

No no I'm not talking about your glowing skin or your great hair or your strong arms. I'm talking about loving what your eyes see, looking, - no - staring, straight into your own soul. For me, it has been a while.

I started therapy last year, and it has been the best thing to ever happen to me - rather, the best thing I've ever done for myself - being able to understand the implications of incidents, people and their patterns, and my reactions / coping mechanisms to them (my patterns that formulated as early on as a toddler, even, in some cases) that I've still held on to and had contributed to making me who I am today. Learning about the hurt I go through and the hurt I cause. Learning about healing. Healing.

For the last one year, almost, there has been an exponential increase in the thirst for wanting to be a better person, for extreme introspection, that has led to loving me in ways I never imagined I would. Finding the courage to constantly unlearn, and relearn - constantly keep learning - while being extremely draining on certain days but surprisingly effortless on certain others, has been nothing short of humongously rewarding, in both cases.. Empathy is love. Start with yourself.

I look at this woman staring back at me through the mirror, with nothing but love in her eyes for that little girl who just wanted to be held. For the woman that just needed to let be. For the person that is learning to be better.

@shalinivijayakumar_ , thanks for giving me the space to be vulnerable without fear, and showing me how it looks, even if that moment was just fleeting. :) Love you beyond measure.

@jayaraman.shobana , I want to let you know how grateful I am for you. For everything you've taught me how to do, for myself. Nothing but love. :)

I really do want to thank you in more ways than one, for being the one person that single-handedly had the biggest push in helping me become better. There were mutually formed beautiful support systems in the last one year - my friends, colleagues, some from my family and then there is you. Love. ❤️

Amrutha Srinivasan - 21.7K Likes - I haven't really spoken about my private life on Instagram much because it was going supremely well and a part of me was conditioned to think "well if I speak about it and people know how happy I am, and IF at all one day this ceases to exist, there's gonna be so much that I'll have to process and react to". Karthik and I got married in his terrace- a simple ceremony with our families that officiated/conducted the wedding ceremony. Maybe sometime I will feel ready to talk about how beautiful, intimate and loving our friends and family made that day, for us.

Amrutha Srinivasan - 20.2K Likes - @evamkarthik and I thought, contemplated, insisted to our parents and arrived at this beautiful ceremony we invented for our wedding.

We wanted our friends and family to be the ones to officiate/conduct our wedding. Both sides of the family were introduced to each other - they spent time getting to know each other. Everyone felt included. Our babies Sky and Shadow had matching scarves. Paatis and Thathas were remembered. Childhood stories were shared. Poetry was recited. A Nigerian Wedding Ceremony tradition was incorporated where the bride and groom are hyped in a friendly fight between either sides. My heart melted at what our people spoke about us. There was love, all around. There was laughs and giggles and tears (even with the absence of a homa gundam😂) ♥️

It only seemed befitting that breakfast for everyone was ordered from our very own @sangeetharestaurantofficial 😂♥️

I wore my paati's neli modhiram, Karthik's mom's kemp set from @sukra_jewellery , valaiyal I bought in pondy bazaar.

I was able to quite literally wear all of these with ease till the end of the day.

Looking at this picture I'm also getting reminded of Sekar Anna who showed me my sarees and Moorthy anna who did the end tassels (mudi potufying) at @nallisilksarees . :)

The beautiful thoranams and flowers all along the motta maadi parapet was so beautifully done by @vizhamedai , making our dream of an intimate terrace wedding come true!

Caption : @evamkarthik and I thought, contemplated, insisted to our parents and arrived at this beautiful ceremony we invented for our wedding. We wanted our friends and family to be the ones to officiate/conduct our wedding. Both sides of the family were introduced to each other – they spent time getting to know each other. Everyone felt included. Our babies Sky and Shadow had matching scarves. Paatis and Thathas were remembered. Childhood stories were shared. Poetry was recited. A Nigerian Wedding Ceremony tradition was incorporated where the bride and groom are hyped in a friendly fight between either sides. My heart melted at what our people spoke about us. There was love, all around. There was laughs and giggles and tears (even with the absence of a homa gundam😂) ♥️ It only seemed befitting that breakfast for everyone was ordered from our very own @sangeetharestaurantofficial 😂♥️ I wore my paati’s neli modhiram, Karthik’s mom’s kemp set from @sukra_jewellery , valaiyal I bought in pondy bazaar. I was able to quite literally wear all of these with ease till the end of the day. Looking at this picture I’m also getting reminded of Sekar Anna who showed me my sarees and Moorthy anna who did the end tassels (mudi potufying) at @nallisilksarees . 🙂 The beautiful thoranams and flowers all along the motta maadi parapet was so beautifully done by @vizhamedai , making our dream of an intimate terrace wedding come true! Amrutha Srinivasan - 13.3K Likes - Today I'm going to upload the picture that my mother sent me on WhatsApp to wish me happy birthday.

I have an overwhelming amount of birthday wishes in my messages folder and so many people tagging me in their stories, sharing digital/ hard sketches of my pictures and heartfelt wishes. I have had so many boxes of goodies that I specifically love, been sent to me by people who I'm so grateful to have in my life. I know I have been pretty inactive on social media; but I'm so so thankful and deeply moved by the number of people who still want to know what I'm up to, wish well upon me and want only good things for me. You guys make my day, every day - I do count my blessings.

Today was a mundane day I spent with family and my dogs. But it was made extra special with all the love I received through insta DMs, stories, posts, WhatsApp messages, calls, etc. Thank you so so much, really.

Is it that my hands always find something to do, or is it Sivagnanavathy capturing my hands in action, repeatedly, without fail?

It's a little bit of both. A friend of mine used to (still does) jokingly say "oh here comes the mom/ aaya of the group, ready to clean up the mess at the party". It did feel true. Neither did I take it as a compliment, nor did it bother me enough to want to "change" that part of me. I never thought much of it until I truly understood where it came from - the need to constantly be on high alert, holding it together - lest I 'let it all fall apart' and 'overwhelm' the people I care about. Well. There's a possibility that you may not relate to THIS particular kind of "high alert".. but.. how about this? --

I'm sure a lot of people (mostly women, in my experience) will relate to me with respect to having to be on high alert all the time that someone will touch you or graze your butt without your permission; that someone will grab your breasts because "they were right there".

I hope for a space where the high alert mode ceases to exist, and "I have a boyfriend" is just information and not the only response that would ward off creeps.

I hope for a day where I can just let myself be (Constantly working on choosing to do that for myself).

I hope for a future where my hands don't 'have' to find something to do - cover myself, en garde, but flail about happily while I gallop down the road at 2am. :)
