Top 5 TIPS…..How to get the Ocean Walker glide with SPEED? 1. Rotate via your feet and get the timing of the kick to accelerate the roll. 2. The way you do the kick is important, it’s not from the knee!!! Keep a straight leg so it makes a good connection 3. Low your gliding arm so hips are high and so you get the feeling of swimming down hill. The aim is to get your hip touching the top of the surfaces. 4. Wrist pointing slightly downwards so you get all of the catch and don’t push water down and make sure you pull it back. 5. Learn how to keep a still head so you stay balanced on rotation. Have you any injuries and worried you can’t swim in case you make it worse???? That was me, 2 knee dislocations & 2 knee operations plus 2 shoulder operations and given no chance by specialists to carry on with open water swimming. I had to change the way I swam to have any chance of continuing. My shoulder got worse from these 5 movements. I advise to avoid these 5 movements swimming freestyle….. 1. Lifting my arm high over head irritating shoulder joint 2. High arm on top of the water causing shoulder pain on the catch. 3. Swimming flat with no rotation. 4. Looking forward causing neck and shoulder pain 5. Bending my knee too much to kick causing knee pain.
