I’ve just been trying to find out exactly when my first Hilda recording session was. But it was so long ago I don’t have documentation of it. :’) from what I can deduce, it was 2016. 7 years ago. Hilda has been a huge part of my life for 7 years. I’ve only been acting for 9. And I say huge part of my life, because recording Hilda meant that I would regularly take the train down to London with my mum, or occasionally my dad. Our train would arrive into St Pancras, and we would walk from there to @sohosquarestudios, be given tea, sit in the little downstairs waiting area, and then be taken into the studio by @peacock_sound. Dave Peacock taught me everything I know about voice acting. He did every session with me, from ages 13 to 20. Every single session he would give me a hug, ask earnestly how I was, and make me laugh with a bizarre note that somehow extracted a subtlety in performance that only he knew was missing. He is quite miraculous like that. @thatlukeperson would frequently be in these sessions, drawing and laughing quietly at Dave’s genius. Luke is also a genius. He created this entire world. We would share Nottingham jokes together. And bond over shy and awkwardness. I’m gonna miss all the little details of these trips down to Soho.

Been far too busy. But with people I adore. Now, two types of time to tell you about! Also I’ve been thinking a lot about time and how it’s only a concept and how we’ve used and created language to try and make sense of it but we still know pretty much nothing. Anyway. TIME is out on @bbcone and @bbciplayer on Sunday, it means a lot to me, it’s some of my proudest work made with some of the best people on the planet. And TIME 100 thank you for having me on the list and at the event, I left that evening feeling very inspired (there was a NASA astronaut there!!!). And now I’m home and it’s time to go on a walk through the fields. Time out for a tiny bit. Time. Time. Time.
