We got to accompany Chris as he tried some of the iconic routes, including the 5.14c Golden Ticket with @michaelakiersch. “I had tried The Golden Ticket once on my previous trip when it was still a project. So it was one of the climbs I was really looking forward to going back to. In the end, I wasn’t able to do it this trip but I’m super excited to come back soon. Black Pearl 11.07.23 ✅ Mallorca A perfect line at the upper limits of anything I’ve ever climbed above the sea, with very finicky conditions. I had to go deep on many levels. It’s located in a total power spot in a very exposed and wild part of the island. The late, great Miquel Riera, my long time friend , mentor and godfather of deep water soloing brought me here years ago and opened my eyes to the potential of this place and style of climbing. After his passing in 2019 I doubted if this place would be the same for me. But now whenever I’m back there it reconnects me with his spirit and vision. When we went to Rocktoberfest with him, he told us about the community he observed within the festival. “It was great meeting so many climbers at the Rocktoberfest. It was a mix of seasoned veterans and people who were relatively new to climbing.
