Responsible Republicans have been sounding the alarm about entitlement spending forever. While there’s always a few “deficit hawks” who yell and scream every year about appropriations bills, the truth is that these annual spending bills only account for 1/3 of total spending, and half of that is for our military. The real deficit hawks are more concerned with the 2/3 of spending that comes from Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. So it has to be fixed. But how? Democrats just want to raise your taxes. That’s it. Raise taxes on young people and transfer the money to your grandparents. There’s a lot more sensible solutions than that, of course. But again, if you’re young and worried about these retirement programs (as you should be), you should never vote for Democrats.
