I was deeply fascinated by how the depiction of the many cats that he was obsessed with and his descent into schizophrenia were connected. Teenage Mali and I visited the set of Tim Burton’s “Planet of the Apes” in or around the 2000s. We got to spend some real quality time with the chimps that were on set. Priceless! Once a day, they would frolic free and wild in an empty soundstage… swinging in the rafters high above us. Really amazing. #throwbacktuesday #dannyelfman #planetoftheapes #timburton
