15 years ago, I recorded this little song in my tiny apartment on the south shore of Montreal. I had a slower-than-an-IPhone 4 desktop computer, a cracked version of Protools (don’t tell anyone), a cheap mic, an old guitar, and a lot of spare time. No label, no money, no expectations… It was just for fun. And it was fun. Fun to write, fun to record, fun to shoot the video on a garbage camcorder with friends and family…. Today it passed 200 million plays on Spotify. Absolute insanity. For context, “Thong Song” has 186 million plays. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, make things purely for the fun of it, because who knows… Maybe one day, you too, could be bigger than Sisqo.
There are a lot of good Christmas Songs, but only one is the best. This song is 11 years old this year, and remains the only Christmas song to ever ask “What does Santa’s neck look like?” Happy Holidays friends
This is a song about the very first time I felt good at something. I was 13. True story.

I asked ChatGPT a super casual question unrelated to anything.
As kids, we took playing with our toys VERY seriously. As adults, it only felt appropriate to do the same. What a joy it was to recreate this historic match with the toys that embodied pure magic and imagination for me (and so many of us) as children. If I could fit most Wolfie’s Just Fine pop culture references, past and future, into one image… Can you spot them all? There are a few hints in there about some tracks on the new album (out next week). Gorgeously vintage art by the immensely talented @gibsongraphix.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. We miss you
Thanks for this lovely write up @bdisgusting @freddyinspace
What a joy and an honor it was to have the opportunity to write the songs for the musical episode of new Clone High. It was so fun collaborating with all the lovely geniuses involved in bring the show (back) to life. @abandonedpools did a particularly incredible job (as always) making these songs sound Clone High AF. Sometimes singing is better than speaking. New episodes out every Thursday on @hbomaxes

Sometimes I write Wolfie’s Just Fine songs from the point of view of supporting characters in movies from my childhood (Pigeon Lady from Home Alone 2, Todd and Janelle from Terminator 2, are examples from previous albums). I make up backstories for the characters, try to imagine what their lives are like, what they’re struggling with… On the surface, it may seem kind of silly and tongue in cheek, but these are the songs that tend to be the most emotionally grounded for me. I’m not sure why I started doing this, but this process seems to help me access a part of myself that is unavailable when writing about my own life. “Staying with the Bomb” is one of those songs. It’s from the point of view of “Charlie the NYPD bomb expert” (Played with nuance, depth, and humor by the great Kevin Chamberlin) from the movie “Die Hard with a Vengeance.” I was 14 when I went to see that movie at the local theater, and there’s a moment near the end that always stuck with me… Charlie is (unsuccessfully) attempting to disarm a bomb that has been placed in an elementary school. The school has just been evacuated, and with two minutes left on the timer, he is told that it’s his turn to evacuate, and to leave the bomb. However, a moment later, officers stationed outside hear cries for help coming from a third story window… There are still kids in the building. This information is relayed to Charlie, he pauses for no longer than a second, and replies “I’m staying.” He sits back down and continues his attempt to disarm the bomb, knowing that he will most likely die. It makes me cry just thinking about it.

Happy Halloween everyone. This is a fantastic fan-made video for my “Wolfie’s Just Fine” song “Get Away” made by David Kirkbride @dkirkbride2008. It’s an edit all the 80s horror movies he and his friends watched throughout the pandemic to stay sane (everyone had their own way of dealing), and it really captures the essence of the song in a very Wolfie kind of way. It’s also perfect for Halloween, enjoy!
