I had a slower-than-an-IPhone 4 desktop computer, a cracked version of Protools (don’t tell anyone), a cheap mic, an old guitar, and a lot of spare time. No label, no money, no expectations… It was just for fun. And it was fun. Fun to write, fun to record, fun to shoot the video on a garbage camcorder with friends and family…. Today it passed 200 million plays on Spotify. Absolute insanity. For context, “Thong Song” has 186 million plays. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, make things purely for the fun of it, because who knows… Maybe one day, you too, could be bigger than Sisqo.
