for your sunday
You never know where the first seed comes from, and the best ones tend to fall into your lap by sheer coincidence… 🌰
Watch how ‘and we’ll leave it there…’ came to be here, and find the song wherever you listen to music.
Sometimes things take exactly the time they need to take…
Back in 2017, we started conversations with @cerclemusic about doing a show together. They even came over to Iceland in 2018 to look at some locations.
Despite my impatience and the many plans that did not work out, I am glad this took 5 years to pull together, because it finally led us to this perfect moment beneath the incredible mountain of Hafursey, where hard work, creative flow and – to be honest – pure luck came together in some kind of a beautiful dream.
Thank you to my incredible band for braving the cold and giving this everything, to my sound technicians Terry and Jonny for somehow making us sound good in the wind, to @covert.productions, @braceproductions & @luxorice for their hard work and immense respect for the environment, to my management team Árni, Sven and Hildur, and my label @mercurykx, who spent months working on making this a reality and of course Cercle for their trust in me and the process.
This was an experience like no other.

in my dark little creative corner. can you name the piece?
Today is summer solstice, the longest day of the year. The sun doesn’t set at all in Iceland, as if to make up for it shortcomings in winter… like in this Sunrise Session video of Back to the Sky where it graced @j0fridur with its brief, but welcomed, presence ⛅
In 2015, Nils and I met up to film a short promo video for something, cannot even remember what it was. We started improvising with some cameras around, and didn’t stop until sometime early the next morning… It ended up as Trance Frendz, the film and album with several new pieces written & recorded in 8 hrs with no edits 🤓

Beautiful memories of creating Light of Day with @odesza – I took great comfort in the flow of this remote collaboration in a time where most of us were not able to see each other in person. So this song is special to me. ❤️ Link to full song & video in bio.

One random photo from my phone for each month of 2023. I tried to be honest and only changed one out cause it showed the front door to my house 😬 instagram only does 10 so final one was random from oct-nov-dec.

Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since we premiered re:member at Royal Albert Hall and I started this new musical chapter of the large scale live shows, the self playing pianos, the more uplifting music.. It has all been so rewarding but seeing your journeys from all over the world was one of the best treats… take me back! 🤍
‘ekki hugsa’ means “don’t think” and is about letting go in order to express yourself creatively. What does that look like for you?
